The premise here was that Ci and Nova crossed paths when they were looking for their friends. It was likely some kind of hole in the space-time continuum that had caused this, but that is irrelevant to the two Heroes. Sure, there’s twice as many people to save, two Dark Lords (Freddy is unsure how this happened, and he doesn’t like that there’s another Dark Lord in power somehow), two sages and a lot more difficult adventure going forward. Both Ci and Nova were confused. Ci has no idea if she saw all of this happen, as when she first started heading into Karkaton, she hadn’t slept for a few days until Penelope joined her party, but she was exhausted and sleep-deprived.

EDIT: I completely forgot to write the proper story for this, so here's a short one with the idea above.

Ci was exhausted, but she couldn't do much about it. Her ability to rest was likely a thing that Dark Lord Freddy had unintentionally taken from her, as she hadn't properly slept for a few days. The nightmares and repeated images of how she envisioned the nine friends she made throughout her journey suddenly being taken from her in the night kept her awake. Perhaps it was her burning anger, that burned as hotly as the fires of Karkaton, happened to be the thing keeping her awake. At the same time, Ci felt like she was going to pass out at any moment.

Ci was so focused on staying awake and finding her friends that she didn't see a rapier lying on the ground. It didn't take long for her to trip over it and land with a thud. For a few moments, Ci was dazed. When she came to and got up, she noticed the rapier upon the ground. She didn't know why she didn't see it, and why it happened to be there, but perhaps it belonged to someone? She didn't really know, but she wasn't a warrior, so she couldn't use swords.

It then occurred to her that perhaps Hat or Inka could use it if she found them. Or maybe it belonged to Diamond. Diamond always kept a rapier on him that he never used as he had a wand and magic. The princess brushed herself off and picked up her rapier, and then took out her fan. The heat of the volcanic landscape was starting to get to her.

In the distance, she noticed a cave, and could've sworn that she spotted Penelope going in. It looked like the Great Sage she knew, so Ci supposed now would be a good time to go an talk to her. When she went in the direction of the cave, her vision got a little blurry from her body desiring to pass out. Ci thought that perhaps her glasses were dirty, so she took them off to clean them.

Upon putting them back on, she heard the roar of a dragon and jumped. Maybe she was still in a dream?

Well, she saw a mage riding a cyber drake in a hurry.

...Wait, what?

Ci looked back at the direction of the Realm of the Fey, and then in the direction of the cave. She could've sworn that there were no dragons in the Realm of the Fey. Also, she didn't remember anyone else in the Realm of the Fey that was heading towards Karkaton. The Fab Fairies gave her that responsibility, as well as everyone else in Miitopia to an extent, to head towards the forbidden volcanic land to defeat Freddy!

Maybe she was just seeing things? She hadn't slept in a few days, after all. Her imagination was lively on overdrive. Rubbing her head, Ci continued to head in the direction of the cave, only to trip again. It was over the tail of that cyber drake she saw, and Ci was getting finicky that she kept tripping over things.

Then, she heard an unfamiliar voice. "...Who are you? Why are you wandering around in Karkaton?"

"...Huh." Ci thought maybe she misheard her guardian spirit. She got up, brushed herself off again, and continued to move towards the cave. She heard the sound of someone getting off of something and landing upon the ground with a slight thump.

She heard that voice again. "Excuse me? Who are you?"

Ci rubbed her face and turned her head to see a mage with pale skin, freckles, blue-glass glasses with golden yellow eyes behind them and bluish black hair. She didn't recognize their facial features at first, as she just saw the mage outfit. At first, she registered it to be Diamond, but didn't see the golden crown around the hat or the white rabbit ears, so it was probably someone else. When her vision became clear, she finally acknowledged that yes, the mage was completely different.

Also, they had a wand around their neck with the same amulet she had, except hers was in the basic charm form that was the one she had received when she got it from the worried mother in Greenhorne Town. Ci was confused, but also in a state of tired disbelief. Were they making copies of antique charms? Ci didn't answer the question the mage had asked her, instead asking a similar one of the same ilk. "...Who're you, and where did you get that amulet wand?"

"I'm Nova, and I'm a mage. I got this all the way back in Greenhorne when I first started my journey to defeat Dark Lord Fawful." answered the Mage.

Ci frowned, and got even more confused. She didn't remember seeing this guy in Greenhorne, and she had never heard of Dark Lord Fawful. In fact, she was pretty sure his name was Dark Lord Freddy, not Fawful. "...Whaaat? I'm sorry, but who is Dark Lord Fawful? I'm pretty sure you're referring to Dark Lord Freddy."

"No, I mean Dark Lord Fawful." Nova insisted. "He captured my friends, and I need to save them. I just saw the Great Sage ahead. They might know where my friends are. Also, who are you?"

"...Ci? I'm a Princess. I don't know who Dark Lord Fawful is. Also, do you mean Great Sage Penelope?" Ci asked.

The mage gave Ci a confused look. "Who?"

Ci had no idea what was happening anymore. By the looks of it, there was the chance she might've accidentally crossed into another universe. It seemed that way if she was meeting someone who was in the exact same situation as her, but with a different Dark Lord and Great Sage, as well as different friends to save.

From there, the two of them went to explaining their situations, and deciding to compromise for now. As they both had the same goal in mind, they decided to band together to save their friends and continue to move forward. Perhaps they'd be able to defeat the Dark Lord if they worked together...
