Description
Post redacted from tumblr.I put out a call for permission to redesign people ocs (with their permission) as if they were born on/existed within my own heartwood setting. Thanks to those of you who are letting me do this. This was a brilliant idea, I have gained so much just from simple sketches and creating for existing personalities than from weeks of just tumbling ideas about straight clothing desighns in my head.
For those of you who have posted characters I have not yet gotten to, I do plan to attempt to do at least one for everyone who has responded (at least so far, I make no promises for the future.)
Characters in order are;
1) Race (or Rhan) who belongs to I got some redwater mercenary styling down thanks to him, and added another merc guild to the eventual merc guild lineup, both because there was a gap there for one more fitting to the character and admittedly as a little personal tribute to an awesome guy
2) louis, I love louis, and he is the brainchild of with whom I rarely communicate but whom I enjoy following. He teaches at a university in hetherev, and while i could obviously not give him that in cannon, i dressed him as if he were a highly successful and respected scholar from the heartwoods largest university in Redwater. Redwaters cosmopolitan and wealthy atmosphere would probably suit Louis just fine.
3) Lenny! property of . Zach politely gave me the option using a human form of the cat-man Lenny but that just felt like a cop out for me. Besides, the heartwood has cat people… sort of… scaly ones. Hence, Lenny got turned into a T’kodi for the purpose of this experiment. I hope his creator is not too dissapointed
That was the easy bit, Lenny makes an excellent and recognizable T’kodi. his clothes however proved a challenge, if a fun one. Modern jeans don’t really have a post industrial age equivalent especially for a creature who finds pants optional to begin with, but thankfully the T’kodi are a fairly individualistic race not much fussed with cultural trends so I think I found a good middle ground. It did end up making him a bit of a pretty-boy by T’kodi standards however, especially with that bling and dyed hair ^.^
4) This one I genuinely have mixed feelings about. Dan, brainchild of , Is a really interesting and original character the like of which there is not really any equivalent of in the heartwood. To keep to my brief I decided to try and turn him into what I thought was his closest equivalent , another t’kodi. While I love how the outfit, something I can easily see a well respected librarian in the heartwood’s largest library wearing, and I even like the facepaint idea for the t’kodi that I used ot try and match Dans colouring more closely without breaking cannon, I think I failed to get enough ‘dan’ishness’ across. Unfortunately This is an exercise in cannon, so I decided to make that sacrifice. Sorry bolthound, I really love dan, and if I can think of another way to approach this I may try again for his sake.
Still, love the outfit. From a world-building standpoint still counting it as a success.
Thanks again for letting me do these sketches guys
And in answer to alittlebirdysays ‘s question, yes you may
