Storytime version
Thurges
A creature created by strong emotion or belief. It can be argued that most gods are thurges of a sort, but in truth most gods are generally half thurge half something else, perhaps a person who ascended to godhood, a child of gods, a physical object, or something crafted by a greater power. True thurges are less complex. And have no motives or sentience beyond the feelings or emotions that created them. As such pure thurges are quite transient, and strong ones are rare. Shamans are usually the most knowledgeable about thurge lore, and are the most competent at summoning, controlling or bartering with them
Examples of thurges could be;
A small village believing there is a benevolent spirit living in the well, and so after a time a small well sprite is forged by their persistent belief.
Horrible multiple homicides occur in a house, and for many years afterwards the locals insist it is cursed. The curse might manifest as a semi intelligent haunting, Shaped by the horrible event and summoned and fuelled afterwards by the villagerβs belief that the place contains evil.
A few powerful and persistent globally known thurges exist. For information on these look under 'Remnants and old gods'
fip flip flip the pages.....
Metathurges (the furies and the paragons)
The furies
a few persistent (or recurring, the matter is not quite clear) thurges exist and have been observed, documented and named by shamans over the last few thousand years. Clasified as Metathurges, they too can be summoned, but any competent shaman will tell you that doing such would be truly idiotic. For the only emotions consistent, constant and powerful enough to sustain persistent thurges are the most horrible.
They seem to only appear corporeally in times of great strife, but they can be recognised by consistent description throughout histories in almost every culture, although often falsely named or misunderstood. As an example; Phsaq has appeared described as 'Aser, Angel of vengeance' in records of the sacking of the port city Abourgate, is often described in literature from the War of the bloodwood as a beast from the hells prowling the edges of great battles, and as the description of one of the lords of hell in many human and Droder religions.
It should be noted at last that while horrifying, metathurges are never truly evil, only the products of evil. also no metathurges created from benevolent feelings exist; assuredly because people on the whole do not feel deep irrepressible urges for a sudden changes in reality when people do nice things to them.
Amusing aside:
Psaque was often nicknamed 'the childrenβs saint' in historical literature as a bit of dark humour referring to the fact that he was most commonly accidentally summoned by young children.
Amusingly today this has been grossly misinterpreted by current popular culture as many have taken to praying to Psaque for the sake of their children... potentially tragic, but admittedly highly amusing.

psaque, hands down favourite for me an interesting art style and very intriguing lore. Makes me think "do they really exist?"

not you, but he might XDΒ Its an interesting idea though, one that has caused a few characters in my stories some troubling problems.
What the world thinks of you just became a little more dangerous.

it works if you have no time frame, but its not so good for producing something quickly

the bit about kindness/benevolence was depressing but true. i mean who vents when they're stoked-- nobody, you don't draw, you go out and do fun shit like surf or drink. (my logic anyhow.)
this was really enjoyable to read. it was descriptive but not windy, and i instantly grasped the concept and felt interested to read on and build on that initial understanding.
weird comment but it was the most notable part of this for me.
