Description
For the fortnightly creature contest. the theme was 'Sky Master'I love that group and I love that contest, and I had a really old character I was always to intimidated to attempt until now that kind of fit the bill, so I took a shot at it.
Dont think i made the deadline with this one, but its been a crazy couple of weeks. hope its in time! was fun anyway.

I love this style, it is like looking at a picture from a fairy tale book but more realistic.

Beautifully done, and quite striking. As a graphic designer who creates images for commercial use, I wonder if you are interested in trying to license this image. If so, I want to suggest that the eyes of this terrific beast could convey something demonic to some more sensitive or religious people. In one case, in my career, the person who made decisions said that things like that in my designs didn't bother him, but in order for it to be used by his corporate products, he had to consider all buyers, and some of them were very resistant to words like brew, devilish, and magic (yes.) and were turned off by images that conveyed witches and the occult. So I was always fine tuning those details. Before submitting to a corporate interest, perhaps you could do a second version with eyes that do not invite the suggestion of the demonic. Best of luck to you. You are a fine artist.

Thank you for your kind words! I am currently open for commission, and while this is a personal piece I have done images for businesses and events as well that are quite a bit tamer
Thank you for the vote of confidence! Such words always give me strength to continue.

One of the best treatments of wings (so hard to represent well) I've seen in a long time - beautiful.

I had not heard of the Ziz So I cannot say that it was my intent, but I believe that half of any piece is the interpretation of the viewer, so it well could be! Many thanks for linking the article, I love discovering something new, and the comparison is an interesting one.
