The season was among them, the eggs thrown mid winter were beginning to break open, bringing new life to the bottom of the world. Anxious to make sure his prized egg would hatch soon, Paci halted all official business to remain by it. For awhile he feared the baby inside had died from it's premature birth, but just weeks later, when holding the egg to the sun, life could be seen silhouetted inside.

Although the egg had been a carefully guarded secret, it would be easy enough to introduce the 'orphan' once he or she hatched. The mother was dead and gone, and the father had up and disappeared. The general's eyes narrowed at the thought. He had spent hours each day, days on end searching for Yajin, assuming his grief had caused him to hide alone, but weeks passed without sight or sound of his once admirable Lieutenant.

He had eventually given up on Yajin, determined to restart with the next generation, hoping that this new draik would have some of the same qualities of it's parents. This time would be different, however, because Paci would begin from the start, without anyone able to remove his 'teachings' from the kid or taint it from his plans.

Just hours later, the orphaned egg had hatched, and not long after that the general held up the cleaned, fluffed newborn.

Although he had been hoping for a male, the girl that he held gave way to new possibilities.

While her real parents would have been ecstatic with her entering the world, naming her, bonding with her, and introducing her to the new, strange world, the stranger that held her grinned coldly into the innocent face. Though she lacked the strength a male would have, Paci was confident that he could make her the weapon her sire never had the willpower for.

I've had the idea of this pic in my head for a long time.. and every time I hear the Guster song 'Airport Song' I get inspired to draw it more and more. So, listened to the song a couple times and drew it out.
