Did I make it on time? ><I never enter contests, but the theme for this one really appealed to me. XD I've just finished school, and what I want to do in the future has been on my mind a lot lately. Unfortunately it never was and still isn't really clear to me what I really want to do... >_>
This piece is probably more metaphorical and really describes an emotion rather than a situation. When you say 'What are your dreams?' this is my feeling. Something soft, a bit blurry and undefined, fragile, blossoming, but nevertheless, something above and beyond the suffocating depths.
There are so many things I wanted to convey here, personal as well as things I thought would be universal. I really couldn't tell you exactly what they are so you could say it's open to interpretation xD
This drawing may seem a bit confusing. Like my aspirations xP. Colourful, mixed up, and not quite straight-forward..... Standing at the edge of the beginning is really exciting xD

and I really feel I can relate to this - I feel like the girl in the picture, I'm about to finish school and know what I want to do. It's something amazing and I can feel it, but I'm just being pulled under by the heavy oppressive drowning pessimism... but I keep my eyes fixed up above, seeing the light just above me, soon to be pulled up and out and into the air.
The way you've painted the water (and everything else) is absolutely beautiful, what did you use?

I used good ol' photoshop CS and a tablet for the colouring, and just pencils for the sketch ^^

Absolutely georgeous! The contrast between the dark water and the sky is very nice. Her face is also very expressive and the hair is very nice. I also love the red "line".

Haha no worries, I love the traditional look but I like digital painting.. so I often end up having people think my digital art is traditional XD
