I recently realised how basic all the characters are in Thomas and Friends. Most of them have little backstory in the Television and a lot overall have little of explain why their personalities are the way ther are. Most of them are just images of a talking train, but we don't know why they say the things they say.

I'm not saying the characters are bad, I'm just saying that they could be expanded upon and be looked into deeper. That's why people make OCs or have their own series, like EnterprisingEngine93, where they fill in the gaps and make them great. It's also the kind of things that satirical works point out that make their content funny.

People may think 'Oh, this is a show for kids,' well, if we showed diverse persoanlaities on the show, it'd teach them that everyone's different and that everyone sees the world from a different angle, just like people in the real world.
