Well there was a fence between me and the Snow Leopards, but I would say this is about 2 metres.

(At the Toronto Zoo, its like... 15-20+ metres between you and the tigers).
And on that note, how did you get the fence out of the picture lol. Just go right up between fence lines?

First you need a fast lens, f2.8 is what the doctor ordered, set lens to f2.8 and get right up against the fence. It gets a little tricky trying to avoid the mess as these cats don't stand still. The mesh on the fences at this trust varied from 3cmx3cm to 1.5cmx3cm so a real pain. I have lots of photos that have a line of off colour running through. Will have to PP out.
If you are shooting a that range, you are going to need a 400mm plus lens, try and avoid a zoom, better quality with a prime lens.
