Thanks a lot.
Quite an old work - almost 13-14 years now. Then the afghan-USA war was raging with NATO having joined too.
Being here I was surprised at the lack of any sensitivity to the other side - their casualties...mostly civil in this particular case.
With Trump coming, again the sickening scenario is likely to be re-enacted? As if butchers like Erdogan, Assad, Putin are not enough.

very powerful, the title contains such impact.
I don't know about war, if we will ever forego it as a species. We are very territorial righteous animals.

another deep touching piece, my dear. it's a ironic that we often ignorant and forget that the other side is also as we are, not really different. the same feelings, thoughts, wishes... we are all a part of a great family, we are all human beeings with a heart and a soul.

true
Especially with the current wars, and in Britain particularly, there is a great romanticism about war. As if 'we' are conquering the evil.To me, anybody who joins a war IS evil. There is no good and bad in war.
thanks too for the fav, Susanna. You really pamper me with all your favourites. It is a great encouragement to me.

This is very stong "Folk Painting"...It's naieve painterly qualities only ADD to it's strength, I believe.. Well done
However;there is the issue of your polititics
...Seriously...What can one hope to accomplish by continuly pointing out the negative in any given situation?...We know them. We live here to...I honestly don't believe one can ever hope to stand firmly on any sort of idealogical platform that is "ANTI-thetical" in origin...So what, you are against war?...Can you prevent them?...If so, HOW?... THAT would be an interesting political piece ~ and one that would engender HOPE to your "viewers"; who are, afterall~people like yourself..
...This, I believe is ultimately more important that so much "finger-pointing"...Respectfully...

i think the title is the most impressive thing on this painting... someone else's father... not only because of the "to kill", but because if her father came back, the one who died is someone else's father... how sinister that can be, to feel happy that there was someone else who died, not the person you love...

quite perceptive this is.... also, i think the hardest part of painting people is the clothes, and you do that very well. i like the way you look at things!

I love this one, it's something every country should think of before going to war...too bad things aren't always like that. Great piece of art!

This is a very moving image you have created. I really enjoy the contrast of the father and daughter with the army lined up the background.

I like how you don't try and make the people pretty, I love the normal people in paintings, the man is old and a bit fat and the girl really does look young. Very nice job here.

yes, they are real people, aren't they?I do not want mythological beauties in my work.It is the flip side I show, or try to show.
Thanks Tara

True, but very sad. I tend to focus my anger on those who send the soldiers to do this.
