Description
Back to The Ersatz Elevator! Here is Jerome Squalor.I really like Jerome and I felt sorry for him being married to Esmé, as she treats him really badly.Although a really good person, Jerome lacks a bit of backbone, and does not engage in arguments, no matter what or why.He wanted to adopt the Baudelaires right after the fire, but orphans were 'out' at the time, and Esmé would not have stood for it, and he wouldn't argue with her.XD
My rendition of Jerome!I hope you'll like it.
Jerome Squalor belongs to Lemony Snicket namely Daniel Handler

Minha versão do Jerome.Espero que gostem
Jerome Squalor pertence a Lemony Snicket, pseudônimo de Daniel Handler.

For some reason I always pictured him as a black guy.

Apparently, as the book doesn't say if he has a job, just that he's unbelievably rich. ^^

I was actually going to ask if you could draw Jerome, but didn't want to seem pushy. XD Anyway, I absolutely love him in your style - he actually reminds me a lot of Johnny Depp (I remember you mentioning you felt he would make a good Jerome if they ever decide to do another film on one of the 667 threads). Out of all the ASoUE characters, Jerome is the one I can relate best to, as I hate arguing and confrontation as well.

Oh that's alright ^~^ I'm gonna draw every single character, time permitting.^^
I'm gonna draw Violet, Klaus and Sunny next, or they could feel all neglected on top of being unfortunate!
Yeah, Johnny Depp as Jerome and Helena Bonham-Carter as Esmé with the TEE movie directed by Tim Burton now THAT would be a dream come true for me.I hate to argue too!But sometimes, there's no way around it.

Personally I imagined Jerome as a more timid kind of guy... one thing Depp is not is timid.

Okay, cool. I just worry sometimes that I come across as annoying without meaning to be. XD
I saw your Violet on 667 earlier and loved her! And I can't wait to see Klaus and Sunny.
I would go insane if Tim Burton was the one to direct the next ASoUE film - just imagine how beautiful the set designs would be! And the costumes! I'm a fan of ALL his movies, except for Sweeney Todd, but that's only because I haven't watched it yet. I don't like gory movies, but I've been told it isn't that bad, so I really want to give it a try.
I avoid arguing as much as possible, but yes, sometimes there's no way you can get out of it.

And me I can't wait to draw Klaus and Sunny.
If there was a Tim Burton ASoUE filme I'd DIE of happiness overdose.lol And Sweeney Todd is very good, actually, the music is wonderful and it's so dark and gloomy I can't help but love it.It's one of my favorited in Tim Burton's filmography.Plus it has Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham-Carter, my dream Jerome and Esmé.lol

Your Klaus came out amazingly, and I can't wait to see your rendition of Sunny!
I know, I'd totally freak if Tim Burton does the next ASoUE film. I'll definitely be checking out Sweeney Todd - I think my favorite Tim Burton film would have to be Edward Scissorhands. I can watch that over and over and never get bored, lol. And yes, I saw on one of the 667 threads that your dream Esme and Jerome are Helena Bonham-Carter and Johnny Depp. They would be great! Mine choices are quite different, as they would be Parker Posey and John Hodgman.

Apparently Burton was sought at the beginning of the Asoue-movie project, but he turned the offer down. Kinda understandable, with the Chocolate Factory, Alice in Wonderland and Sweeney Todd, he's been re-imagining tons of other people's fictions already. It's time he gets back to original stuff.
Brad Silversing definitily tried to make a Burton-inspired movie, and I got to admit it quite worked. But it seems everyone agree that Depp's the ultimate choice for Jérôme (so do I !), yet I'd prefer Julie Cox for Esmé... Carter ruined Bellatrix Lestrange (from my point of view) and I'm too scared of what she'd do to Esmé.

I think I read something about Tim Burton being approached about the ASoUE movie over at 667. You're right about him already having a long string of projects based on other people's creations. I've always had an equal love for his original projects (i.e. The Corpse Bride and The Nightmare Before Christmas).
I loved the costumes and the performers' portrayals of the characters in the ASoUE film. Though I think I'm the only person on Earth who's never pictured Johnny Depp as Jerome. But that doesn't mean I don't think he'd do a great job if another film is ever made. I looked up Julie Cox over at imdb.com to see if she was any relation to Courtney Cox (I know now she's not XD), who's another actress I feel would make a good Esme. Anyway, Julie Cox actually looks A LOT like how I picture Esme.

Yup. I based my opinion on her performance as Elsa Greer in the TV Adaptation of Hercule Poirot's ''Five Little Pigs.'' In the original book Elsa already reminded me a lot of Esmé, but in this TV adaptation it's just... Uncanny. Check it out if you can, it's definitely one of Agatha Christie's best in terms of mystery-writing and characterization.

I used to watch the Poirot TV series with my mother all the time, back when it was still airing on US television (I'm not sure if that's the case now, considering I haven't seen it in a while). I don't recall if I ever saw "Five Little Pigs", but I'm going to see if I can find it on Youtube. I always get excited when I encounter actresses who remind me of Esme.
