Description
Welcome Wednesday.I had a damn BLAST with this one. Dreaded the line work, as per anything I do. It tends to take the longest. The real bitch-and-a-half is in the detail work.
--slightly larger version on DL
The lines here were done by; , as well, the characters belong to her; [link]
All color, shading, and mashing up of a handful of BG works was me.
I've tried not to do much with it that wasn't in the original, though the lines in Blade's hair had to go, they didn't work with the color.

Here we have Blade and Marijke. In truth, I know much more about Blade. Umbreon morph, hence the markings. Marij is a cheetah, and her colors, hair and spots were probably the most fun during this, if not short lived.
This is a rare glimpse of Blade being happy and loving. He's always loving, though, typically You and I don't see that.
Anyway, long story short, I saw the lines fell in love with the piece enough and boom. here we are. Simple.
The title was a spur of the moment change. Its the feeling that washes over me when I take a good look at this, at their faces.
That trust and love is rare and I'll admit, a much sought after commodity by yours truly. Might be why this one speaks to me so.
The moment in time that's so perfect that nothing could replace it, the moment that could span on into eternity as the world around tries to break in against all your hope that it will go on without you.
The moment is brief, and forever is a long time, but to return to that moment... worth it.
... Anyway. This one's for you, old friend.

Oh, I just uploaded this version to FA, too - hope that was okay? Credited you with the colouring, etc, of course.

Its fine by me, of course. Its your work, and there's nothing wrong with a little face time on the web via someone else's page. XD

Spots are fun. who knew?! Heh heh heh. I do have to go back and re-color a thing or two, nothing major though. Maybe a 20 minute touch up sesson should get done all I need.
It is a touching scene too, a very nice piece. And NO, I'm not just being conceited, lol. THIS time I meant before I got to it it was already pretty awesome.
Thanks for stopping by and commenting! A pleaseure hearing from you, Jams, as ever!

Ach! Beautiful!
Well coloured - as good as I'd have done- and with the extra background which I had not expected!
The inking of the lines is also excellent - gorgeous and well-done. (I do not mind that you did away with a couple lines from his hair - it's all about mood - and I tend to drop a few myself when inking.)
If I may point it out, there should be hair behind his shoulder.
And her primary ear colour should be black.
Otherwise, this really.... Honestly, I wouldn't have done it better.... this is pretty much exactly how I saw it in my head (I just didn't have a background in mind - but this is perfect, so fitting with the dark forest).
And so beautifully described, too - I'm flattered!
(And, yes, inking sucks! I hate inking! Colouring and doing effects can be fun, but inking....is just tedious and not all that fun... tedious-work!)
....And thank you for that too, old friend.

Thank you for the kindness, I'm happy that you're pleased with it.
In truth, I had much fun with this. Even parts of it were fun and aggrivating at the same time, namely, the fact that I didn't know much about the lines but what I could see, which is why there was a little issue with the hair. But that, me not knowing everything you know about it, That was pretty fun. And I'll be fixing the ear as well as adding a few more tweaks. I like things to go up before I'm all the way finished with them, lol...
I like doing other people's work too, it turns out. I hadn't done work on someone else's lines before, and I may start doing it a little more. MAYBE. a LITTLE more. lol, of course, when I remember line work and how much -fun- that is, I have second thoughts. Maybe after a few beers when bad Ideas start looking like the BEST IDEAS EVER! XD
I can see myself waking up next to my laptop, rolling over and asking through wide eyes - we didn't do what I think we did... did we? XDD
Anyway, Super Reply done, Again, I'll be hitting it up again tonight for some minor detail work, as well, I have a piece of my own I'll be starting.

You are welcome. I really couldn't complain at all. Also, good job on the glowies!
It's really okay - I realised when uploading the hi-res vers, that I neglected to add any defining hairlines there behind his shoulder. But, really, you interpreted the sketch very well.
And now in regards to the updates, fix-ups - very good! I like how you made that bit of his hair even darker (more shaded)ยด- that's what I'd have done there.
Her ear looks great too.
One thing I did just notice - and that may have been my fault, I'm not sure (I might have forgotten them in the sketch) - is that she should also have spots on her lower arm.
Lastly, can I get a slightly higher res version of this somehow? Something I could use as a desktop background? With your colouring job and background, it would make a gorgeous desktop BG.

Sigh! I can't believe I forgot the spots on her arm... not ONCE, but TWICE! I'd never have noticed if you hadn't said anything. I'm sure they were in the sketch, though my recollection at this moment is a bit scattered.
Anyway, I'll get that one fixed as well. I hadn't re-uploaded the updates to FA yet (i really never use that account, lol) but its a good thing, cause I uploaded 2 vesions when I fixed it up a bit, the second time only after I realized I wasn't finished at all! XD
A high rez? Sure, sure, no problem. I'm honored that you'd pop that on the desktop to oogle at each time the windows are down or the computer boots! (though the thought crossed my mind more than once, lol) I always have like... a dozen different versions of the same damn file, so it shouldn't be a bit matter. I can either upload it to DA or send it via e-mail. I could always just over-write the one on there with the high-rez anyways. Either way makes no difference to me, I'll have to go through whatever version is the most complete and flesh out the details again (only now, I know EXACTLY what to look for, and the bst way to do it! YAY!... sorta!)

Mine too, no worries - I often forget to do her spots... or I'm just too lazy..
LOL! Okay, gotchta.
Re: Keeping multiple versions: You too?? Seriously? Cool!

Yup, miltiple versions is a good idea for several reasons. My most prominent reason; because sometiems I'll do something, then save, then need to go back later and... well... fucked that up, lol.
But its also good to have a few different stages. I never save lines til at least the flats are done. Thats save 1. Its high rez and without a BG or shading or anything that I may or may not need to fix later. There can be others between that one and the final .PSD file, though most times, its just the flats, the PSD and the finished. The PSD containts the different layers for shading and lighting and any touch ups and the BG(s) work, but I try to keep that one from being merged and saved permenantly. So its good to have one before it at least. Oh the things we learn by screwing things up! Story of my life, lol!

Actually, I just save with multiple layers (when I ultimately resize and save in a non-editing web-ready format, I copy/paste what I want into a new document and resize and save it seperately), so I can 'create' multiple versions as needed - my 'original' image has many layers (sketch, underlying base background colour (dropped later), inks, hard inks (dropped later), flat colours, shading, highlights, effects {often multiple layers of individual effects - Blade's glowies and glowing red eyes are seperated, for example, and take me a few steps}, then add the actual background which may be a few layers of itself; then a foreground {like smoke or fire}, and then another layer to throw a gradient or pattern on top if it - my sig and/or text, comes last, and on it's own seperate layer). But, I hit "save" obsessive-compulsively, after almost every single line rendered - 'cause I've had too many program crashes or whatever that killed what I'd done.

Sweet Jeebles you've got lots of layers in your work! I drop anything I'm not using in my main sized images. Sketches are the first to go for two reasons, 1, they are the same size if I have to go to the original file and re-import it (or re-scan it completely) and 2, after I get the lines laid, Not much use for the sketch, everything else follows my mind's direction and the lines themselves.
its always a good idea to hit save a dozen times. You never know when a program is gonna kick. Terrible, terrible, enraging process, that.

LOL! Yup, I do - seriously. To the point where my computer starts to get cranky with some images (particularly considering the sizes I work in). Sometimes, with multiple characters or things like props (Blade's guitar, for example), I have multiple inking-layers.
*NODS* This is true! Or the computer randomly restarts to install updates without warning me until my programs suddenly start closing on me... >_<

She does some pretty impressive work herself, but its sparse when she colors them in. Given the amount of time I'd bet they take, for good reason.
