Emphasis on "Temorary".Had this little idea after a bunch of the 'fella's' had been heckling me over my Halloween costume. I went as the engi - and to folks who aren't terribly aware of TF2, its just a grown up's Bob the Builder costume. But they knew... they knew...
Jerk asses.

Perhaps his animate tools could warn him of the impending danger? Yes I have a nephew and yes I have seen the show at least once. His tools talk and move all on there own. They could be building a talking sentry while he is talking with his shotgun across the map. hmm... the possibilities. Then again maybe I am thinking to far into this. I am known to do that.

weirdest person on earth? No sir. You have to contend with me for that title. Its one thing to BUY someone else a copy of the ZSG, its another thing for someone to buy it for you - just goes to show how brimming over the top you'd have to be. 'course, its not much of a secret... seems that each time my friends and I get together conversation leads to planning for a global infection.
It doesn't help that I wear a big fuzzy orange Jayne Cobb hat.

You should save up about 30 bucks, head on over to Ma Cobb's Hat Shop and grab one. It costs a little bit, but it comes in an Allied Postal Service box along with a hand written letter from Ma Cobb. [link]
Fun times.
I may not have a Zombie Kit in my car, But somehow ever new city I've lived in - I have a plan. Places to go, when to go there and so on. The plan doesn't vary much from place to place - all the same basics just different places to hole up. That, and each of my friends know that if they get the text "Situation Zed", its ON. Quite possibly, like the movie Tron. Or even, Donkey Kong.

See, thats where I'm lucky to live in hickville, Texas. A gun in every house (at LEAST), two gun stores, small population to control upon an outbreak. Not to mention that a big part of my childhood was shooting shit. Last time I went plinking I used 3 16 round clips to put a hole in a target that I could put my fist through. Not bad considering I'm worse with a pistol than a rifle.
Of course, there are plenty of advantages in a small town too, large trucks, a town square that can be easily barricaded at the only 4 corners, hundreds of rednecks with guns (which could be good or bad as you take it). All sortsa neat crap. Not to mention that at this moment I'm no more than 5 feet away from 3 guns, no more than 20 yards from 17 more and a block further than that is a gun store.
and always remember, semi automatic .22 rifle. That way you can shoot as little or as much as you need and carry about 150 rounds in a front pocket. Who wants to be stuck in a hoard with a fucking BOLT action? Hell with that.

Everyone has a gun in Texas, I think it's a law >.> Man, I haven't been plinking in forever! That's a pretty damn good aim with a pistol. First time I shot a pistol was just after I got Call of Duty 2. In that game you can spam the trigger button as fast as you can and all the shots will stay in a close grouping. It looked like this gun did the same thing. I ended up hitting the plastic bar that was holding up the target and it exploded on the range. Best Birthday ever! Mostly because the range master didn't mind
You're really lucky with a small town. More so in Texas. You don't have to worry about a massive Horde attacking. SO it becomes more of a game of survival. Man it's like you planned to live there! XD
I love bolts, but there is no way I'd be out in a horde (hoard. Too much WoW) with one. It would be a nice weapon to have for long range kills, but it isn't the god of all weapons. semi auto .22 is, at least with zombies. I really want myth busters to see at what range the .22 round stops piercing the skull, so I know the effective range against zombies

Well, the range is easy to figure out. If you shoot em', and the get back up move to 30-06. BAM. problem solveeerrr!
Your range story reminds me of a time when I went and tried to shoot the paper target upper left hand corner. There's a tiny little man in a box up there and at about 20 yards he gets real hard to hit. I shot once, hit the clip holding everything to the wire. Lots of clanging metal and 20 minutes later they had the down range cleaned up.
I haven't been back since, but not because they told me not to. No for real.
Yeh. I love my small town. It has a certain charm to it, but if you're the adventurous type spirit like me its hard to be here for long. Right now I haven't got much of a choice in the matter as shit has hit fans all over the place. But its nice to come back home after being around the country some. And, to be honest, I like it here much better than most places I've been. Hell, I like the SOUTH better than most places. There's a certain unspoken hospitality and courteous way. People here are assholes because their ignorant or drunkards... everywhere else I've been don't really have an excuse.

All kinds of adventures are fun. When I was going to school, I'd walk all over San Francisco, pick a spot and just watch people. Stay away from the Tenderloin though. Its dangerous at night. and in the day.
Yeah, the simple solutions are my specialty, but to this day people keep trying to tell me that i over simplify things. That may be with some of my solutions. For example, if you have some jackass giving you drama over the phone, hang it up and don't answer it again. Or, or, if you have a problem smoking - STOP. Der.
Sigh. oh well I guess.
As far as ass kicking goes, I'm right there with ya. I'm aggressive enough, but I don't have a degree in Asskickenomitry or anything so, admittedly, my fighting skills revolve around a the basic principle of "Find the largest thing in the room and use it to strike your aggressor.". Don't let them get hold of it, and always make your first shot count. trust me.

Over simplifying is something I do at times. I swear it comes from video games. When a simple solution is often the best Some people want things to be complicated so they have a reason to keep doing them.

I'm certainly not 6'4". You're tall dude, even by most standards. I'm short. Even by most standards. 5'6". But I'm stalky and I make good use of my low center of gravity. Being farm-raised and manual labor oriented all my life keeps me on the mean looking side though, and thats a plus.

Short does have a lot of perks that's for sure. It's hard to fit in cars at 6'4". I love my Subaru outback, but I have to have the seat all the way back and it's kinda a pain to get in. Though once I'm in it's pretty roomy. (though my legs will whack the bottom of the steering wheel if I don't sit just right). I think you're getting into the wrong vehicles. Trucks are good, even smallish ones.
I prefer motorcycles, but thats just me.
Though rain sucks, and being hit by other motorists kinda puts a damper on things. But you can't argue with $100 a year full coverage insurance, 50 miles to the gallon, and 8 bucks to fill the tank. Not to mention the throttle response. Heeeee.

killerkat55 In reply to classicEIGHT [2010-12-19 23:03:38 +0000 UTC]
I like my Subaru Outback because I can lay the seats down in the back and I have almost as much room as a small truck bed. I don't do enough truck things, so I don't need a truck. But when I need to haul crap I can. Plus one of my zombie survival group friends has a truck I do agree that a truck seats me a lot better, but I don't know if I could get use to the tree on the steering wheel to put it in park and all that fun stuff.
That's the main reason I don't have a motorcycle I know I'd get hit. Oregon has a lot of rain and I'll take my all wheel drive over a motorcycle. It is something I'd like to get some day though.

Yeah, riding in the rain is terrible. Tiny drops turn into stinging needles, grasshoppers turn into rocks, birds turn into deadly projectile. Fortunately, except for your occasion, all of those things are very rare. The rain for you though would be a pain in the ass. Lot of folks don't think motorcycles are safe which is untrue. I've ridden nothing BUT a motorcycle for about 6 years up til last year and the only problems I've had were other people. with the exception of my first motorcycle, on which I hit a rough patch of gravel with the brakes on... went down pretty hard that time.
Other than that, I was hit by a truck. Thats about it. I ripped my shorts a little and was a little sore the next couple days.
Its a good buy, but always be sure you've got a spare vehicle. Texas winters are typically mild, but on those "DAMN ITS COLD" days, you don't want to be on a bike.
I like trucks because they've got no more than I need. A simple, single cab pickup. Its got room for a passenger when the rare occasion arises that I need one. No back seat for all that extra trash, no spare doors, and a bed if me or anyone I know needs to haul somethin'. You may not always need it - but its always there when you do. Which is whats good about your car, what with the layed down seats and all. The only downside is that you'd be limited to the size of the load you could carry. But, again, in your case it wouldn't matter, you know folks with trucks. Literally ZERO of my friends own trucks.

It's pretty much always raining in Oregon. Not hard, just constant. Really starts to feel like a 50's detective movie after a few months. Which is pretty cool really The unsafe part about them is the lack of protection when someone else fucks up and you get the brunt of the accident. otherwise they seem to be pretty safe.
I really want a spare vehicle so I can take my current one out four wheeling Man it's gotta be ten times worse on a bike, what with the wind chill and all.
Same thing I like about a truck really It sucks when you have to fit 3 people in one though. It does make my car very versatile. When we go camping I haul people and the sleeping bags etc while my friends with trucks haul the coolers and bikes. So far it's worked out perfectly. It must suck being the only truck friend. Everyone expects you to help them move

fun times with schoolin' and whatnot. I love when I get a backlog of webcomics - though, I haven't heard of Sluggy Freelance since it began. And I only heard of it then cause I was acquainted with the creator on a forum once upon a time. Geeze its been a while.
Typically I keep up with very few these days. I can't be bothered to wade through a sea of shit to get to the good stuff. LFG, LICD, Nerf NOW, Broken Plot Device, PA and occasionally Lackadaisy when she updates (I love the 1920's era so its right up my alley).
Apart from that the only real things I have are stuff like DA, e-mail or for those mind numbing Wednesdays, Zero Punctuation. If you ain't heard of it, go to it. now.

Sluggy has been my favorite webcomic. It's got such an epic plot going that it felt more like reading a book than a webcomic. There are times where you just get lost since so much is going on at one time, but I've found it worth the effort to keep up with it. The art has gotten really amazing since when he started
I have a lot of time to burn, so I'll find a web comic with a decent backlog and bookmark it. When I'm bored between classes I'll just read the whole backlog. I only really bother to keep up with Sluggy, QC, PA, and xkcd and everything else is just when I get bored or have a few minutes to kill.
Zero Punctuation updates every Wednesday? I've been trying to figure out when he updated That guy is just freakin' awesome. And he does a really good job ripping into a game where it needs to be ripped into. Kinda like what PA does, but in a way more cynical (and enjoyable) way. I have the awful side effect of thinking everything in a British accent (as well as really fast) after watching his videos though. Small price to pay I guess

Heh, at least you haven't got the side effect of trying to speak in a quick british accent. It happens sometimes, I'll hit a russian or a british, or if I've watched Snatch recently I'll get into a pikey thing.
I gotta say its nice to sit down after a huge move and find that my inbox is brimming with correspondence. This is the first time I've had a chance to sit and do stuff since I've settled in. Til Monday at least. Yeesh.
Back on the topic of webcomics and hilarious web-related things, did you ever read Machall webcomics? If I'm not mistaken they've kept the site up even after they moved on to become Three Panel Soul (which I don't really read or keep up with).
The guy who does the comics, or DID machall was notorious for doing what every artist does, having lulls, months of no shows beween not feeling like it, not wanting to and school, but the progression of art is enough to make you wanna go check the back log, on top of that, I'd say 86 percent of the whole site is gold.
Worth a check into that too, that guy is the reason I had a webcomic at all for... what was it... 5 years? off and on.

Good God I haven't logged in in a long time. If I watch the guy that does No Punctuation I'll think in a very fast British accent, but I can't talk in one. Unless I'm saying "bloody hell." I can do a great Russian accent until it comes time to roll an 'R', or I guess a 'P' (if memory serves me correctly on their alphabet). I just can't seem to do it :\ I've recently gotten a new laptop (3 months is recent right?) and never got around to adding Deviant Art as a bookmark. It feels strange to come back, but I don't make enough art to have many people to chat to.
Oh wow no I haven't heard of that webcomic. I've been looking for a new stack of webcomics because I just started a 9-5 job that has enough down time to read them. but I read far too many that are not exactly SFW. What was your webcomic about? I think the only thing I could do would be an XKCD style being supported by nerd humor and nerd things. But I don't get the few ideas I have to paper soon enough and always forget them.

Ahh webcomics. I've been thinking about doing a re-design of my characters lately. In fact, I may during down time at work today. I.E. right now.
My webcomic was about two friends forced into the same boat by the cruel hands of fate. One is just a regular guy and the other, unnaturally unlucky. And with that unluck, the whole plot progresses forward as they struggle to make rent in their crappy appartment with all manner of crazy cast members including talking roaches who have lived there since the previous tennants did (The roaches are rich because no one ever asked them to pay for rent so they just kept the money for it in a closet.), Mr. Binky, Joey's arch nemesis ( a chihuahua that leaves giant dog-bombs on the lawn) and his owner, a crotchety old war vet, A demon parading as a woman that Joey falls in love with at a bar, Brandon sees as a dude, or very hideous woman - Brandon and she are always battling - and many, many more. Most of it is based off of truth and then exaggerated. Like the crappy appartment, the giant roach that I threw a boot at and hit. It fell to the floor, got up and scurried off, the old people across the street who always peeked through the blinds at us... All that stuff. If I didn't have to color the whole damn thing myslef and update it regularly, I'd still be doing it, lol. It was CLASSY.
So... I guess I'll chat with you again in another 8 months? See ya then! XD

Yeah, Lots of fun in webcomicing. I... I can't do B&W, I simply can not. Even though color is a pain in the ass, B&W makes the whole thing lack in something. like effort... And even if I'm going to be coloring in Grayscale... why not just do it up in color anyways? Same amount of work, right? right! XD Thats the way I see's it anyways.
Though jokes will probably be one of my biggest hang ups, I imagine I can come up with SOMETHING once in a while. This time, since I'll be working solo, I'll be able to keep the schedule I want and not post my entire back stock of comics at once.
Bumping them down to 3 panels may be a thing I'll do, though, I'll probably have to kiss the story goodbye since it works better as a page rather than a strip... Thoughts?

Where do you work? I'm a CNC machinist so there is often a lot of down time in between creating parts (while the machine is running) so I get to play video games or something fun like that. Did my first playthrough in 3 days. Working slowly on the second now with my Brother, when he gets a break from family life and work. Like I said "Slowly".
Its good, everything the first should have been, but its good to see Gearbox taking the reviews of the consumers and fans and turning it into a good game. They've definitely shown some improvement, and thats great.

I'm sorry to hear the desk monkey job didn't work out. Hopefully the new gig takes off soon.
My Gamestop didn't midnight release it, but I wouldn't have gone if they had (just not a fan of them). I ended up getting 70 hours out of my first play through (and I didn't even do every quest I could). And I'm slowing down while some friends catch up.
The first game had some faults, but I found it perfect. So to seem them able to improve on the game in every single way is just amazing! My only complaint is that I haven't found a place to listen to all the ECHO recordings like you could in the last one. There are some great jokes and one liners that I'd like to be able to hear again without having to actually play to that point. But other than that the games is bloody perfect!

Are you working with guns or musical instruments?
Sounds like a good deal to me!
I call my phone Butt Stallion now because of those lines XD I agree that it fixed the issues I had with the first one, but I feel like that made the game perfect. Not in the sense that they couldn't improve on it (that ending just calls for some fucking awesome DLC) but in the sense that they didn't need to improve it to make it an amazing game. It makes sense in my head at least
It's definitely the most fun I've had playing a video game (either solo or co-op) in a damn long while. And the only reason it wouldn't be the most fun I've ever had in a game is because I can't remember all the games I've played, and the fun factor is a lot harder to compare between so many different types of games.

The new gig started today, with a bang, as it were.
Not bad. Same ol' shit, different building XD
Borderlands 2 was good. Perfect? I dunno about that. It was awesome, and hours and hours and hours of entertainment. Handsome Jack is effing hilarious! Not to mention Butt Stallion, his Diamond Pony.
But really and truly? Its kind of like they fixed the first one. I mean, it IS the first one with new bits, at the base. Its alright to take what you had and expand on it, and thats what they did. But expanding on it could go much, much farther.
All the same? Funner'n hell! XD

I totally replied, and it shows it. But it's still acting like I didn't reply in the message system
Just so this post isn't....worthless have you downloaded the Mechromancer update for Borderlands 2? I've not gotten to the point of being able to throw out the Deathtrap, but she's so far I'm enjoy the character.

Yep! It launched yesterday I think. And it's freaking amazing! Plus the character says the coolest things. I got a badass point and she said "the completionist in me is all yay!!" among many other awesome lines XD And the Deathtrap feels like it breaks the game. I think it makes it the most powerful character by far!
