Description "God" Enel (or Eneru) is the former god, here just meaning ruler, of the sky island known as Skypeia, and the main antagonist of the Skypeia arc. Enel ate a Logia Devil Fruit that gave him nearly invincible lightning powers - his body is made of lightning and is thus intangible, he can move at the speed of lightning, and create lightning of every voltage and intensity he pleases on a whim. He also possesses incredibly powerful Mantra, an ability to "hear" the auras of every living thing on the entire island, which he uses to keep tabs on the citizen and cast his "God's Judgment" upon anyone who speaks or acts against them, effectively holding the entire population hostage and forcing them into obedience out of fear for their lives. Because of all this, Enel actually believes that he truly is God - a divine and immortal being who can do as he pleases, who is above all creation, which belongs to him to do with as he sees fit - making him an arrogant psychopath with a god complex, and really a very interesting and terrifying villain. He is extremely hedonistic, and so arrogant in battle that he plays with his opponents and even seems annoyed at having to fight because he outclasses everyone so completely. That is until Luffy enters the picture. As a rubberman, Luffy is Enel's natural enemy - his rubber body is completely immune to Enel's lightning powers, something which Enel was utterly unable to fathom, as rubber dies not exist in Skypeia. He never saw it coming, and was so caught if guard, he made one of the greatest and most memorable expressions of utter shock and disbelief ever in the series. Following his defeat by Luffy, Enel repaired his Ark Maxim and flew to the moon, which he believed to be God's home Fairy Vearth, and encountered a race of space robots called Automata. Seeing that he suddenly had an abundance of land and god-like powers, he established an empire on the moon and the Automata became his followers. The drums on his back are a reference to the Japanese god of thunder, Raijin, and all his attacks are named after the thunder or lightning gods of various other religions. Enel is the first antagonist who is neither a pirate or a member of the World Government in any capacity, though if he were a pirate, his bounty would be 500 million beri. He is also the first antagonist shown to use Haki, as Mantra is what the sky islanders call Observation Haki. His favorite food is apples.

I know, right?! So funny. And I just started the Skypeia arc in my dub rewatch! (though I haven't "formally" met Enel yet) Coincidences abound!
