Enigma - Push The Limits

About the title: Gustave Eiffel pushed the limits in it's time and place. The Eiffel Tower was built for the International Exhibition of Paris of 1889 commemorating the centenary of the French Revolution. The Prince of Wales, later King Edward VII of England, opened the tower. Of the 700 proposals submitted in a design competition, Gustave Eiffel's was unanimously chosen. However it was not accepted by all at first, and a petition of 300 names - including those of Maupassant, Emile Zola, Charles Garnier (architect of the OpΓ©ra Garnier), and Dumas the Younger - protested its construction.

This is so incredible! Not just because of the eiffle tower, but the sky... you really caught it on a perfect day!

Well, it was a rainy day, actually, and very grey. And If I hadn't edited the contrast/saturation, I think that the pic would be a bit boring

Very nice shot and interesting lighting. The unfocused-ness of it gives it this dreamy like state and the colors of the image concur with this dreamy feel. Nice.

This is another image which garenteed your place as the winner. I think, that th eonly thing which could be improved is the angle... I'm not too keen on the slant. Other than that. Good work.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

ClaudioAdriano In reply to sucmfic [2005-10-27 14:59:32 +0000 UTC]

Not sure if a different angle would be better (don't know what 'slant' means). I didn't want it to be another "postal card photo".
But anyway that photo was taken from the boat that crosses the river, and it was taken from an old non-digital Pentax cam, so I must have screwed it up a bit when it was scanned.

Thanks

beautiful pic
love the blue shades
personally i think it just a bit too fuzzy...it make the transition for the blue to the black at the top a bit weird
what else can i say...awesome pic

Yeh I thought the contrast would fit the image well.
I'm glad it's one of the most interesting pics of the tower you've seen, I didn't want it to be a common pic, I wanted it to differ from everything else (as most of my pics)

First off, I have to give you points for having the perfect size for viewing here on dA. You managed to give it the detail we need, while making us crave more, as well as enough protection from having your picture stolen.

Right off the bat! I really liked the color of the sky! Did you use some sort of filter for this one? Or was this all photoshopped? Also what was the ISO number you used, for it made the picture look very grainy, yet it gives it that classic look and feel to it.

One more thing, is that I like the border, it gives it that professional look.

Overall this is a really good photo. I hope you keep up the great work

ClaudioAdriano In reply to aperfectnightmare [2005-07-27 23:46:40 +0000 UTC]

Thanks

Nop, I didn't used no filter. The shot was taken with an old non-digital Pentax. Then I aked a friend to scan the photo, but I didn't liked the way it was (it seemed too empty), so I changed the Shadows/Highlights, then duplicated the layer and added a blurry effect (and set it to "Lighten"). Finally, I changed the Brightness & Contrast (that was what gave it the grainy effect) and set out the tonality of the image overall.

I'm glad you liked the picture ... thanks, I'll try to keep it up

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

ClaudioAdriano In reply to plasticgiantcatbear [2005-07-25 01:36:18 +0000 UTC]

It was an old non-digital Pentax camera. I took the shot, and a couple of weeks later, I asked a friend of mine to use his scanner.
After the scan, the pic didn't seemed so good as the original, so I thought that I would add a 'dreamy' effect to it. So I changed the contrast and the tonality of it
