Description
Thunderbird Two is the large, main rescue rocket plane used by International Rescue.It is capable of 5,000 mph (Mach 7.6) and can land vertically using thrusters. It is adaptable in use by means of Mission Pods housed within the main fuselage, and different pods can be quickly put in place before the mission begins.
Thunderbird Two is piloted by Virgil Tracy and launched on a landing strip within Tracy Island with the trees folding down to clear it's wings.
All the Thunderbirds were designed by Brains, the technical genius behind International Rescue.
The series was designed by Gerry and Sylvia Anderson and first broadcast in the UK in 1966.

Easily my favourite from the F.A.B. stable, I loved how this porcine beast could make the effortless transition from supersonic flight to hovering then landing vertically and impractically jacking itself up and releasing its cargo from its pregnant belly. Just awesome what ridiculous things that Jerry Anderson's mind could come up with and then make them seem convincing.
