Manehattan was in an uproar. Something terrible had befallen Fort Acorn to the distant east, and the only clue was a shadowy figure in the sky that was now closing in on the city quickly. Nopony knew what was going on. Except for three...three ponies who happened to be in the right place at the right time to catch a glimpse of the mysterious beast that descended upon Manehattan that night.

This is the Legendary Sphinx. She is known as the Great Beast of Wisdom and Magic, famous for testing ponies with riddles. That night she would give the three their first cryptic warning of the horrible events to come. Equestria would never be the same.
