Description
This is the 1/144 Zaku-FZ from 0080: War in the Pocket. I love this design. I general I love all Zaku designs. I was wondering what to try and work on for pre-shading practice and just said to hell with it and grabbed this kit off the shelf again. It's much easier to practice on an older kit like this because most of the time consuming stuff is already done. I liked how the shading makes the recessed spots pop more versus just using the black pen to outline those spots. I still use the pen on panel lines, but not as much. Then I went crazy with decals and put them all over. Not much else to say, really.New colors:
Model Master: Euro Gray, Drab Green, Interior Green
Polly S: Caboose Red, Grimy Black
Tamiya: Copper

Heh, it's the 1/144 series for the OVAs, I can tell from the boxy shape. Your paint job is 100% improvement on the molded colors for this one. Β

Thanks. Β I'll buy the HGUC version to have a non surprised looking standard Zaku head when my backlog vanishes. Β The wife said no more until then. Β It's slowly shrinking.

I can vouch for the HGUC version as well. The normal head for that one did not look surprised, but the stahlhelm version still looked better. If you place this Zaku, a Hizack, and a Geara Doga together certain common design features stand out.

Personally I like this type of helmet, the B-type give's it a more militaristic look.

In this version of the kit the standard head looked, well, surprised. Β Zakus and surprise never end well. Β The B-type is all business.

The kit gave the option of using the standard head or the Germanic style. I have a lot of standard style Zaku heads so I went with the big bad style. Who's Bernie?

The copper color looks good on those pipe things (whatever they are called XD) and the colors are really good.

Well, compared to the original try, it looks wild. I did the copper on the power cables since I tried it on the Hizack and it looked great, figured to hit the FZ with it since it had yellow-goldish cables, too.

I dig the German Stalhelm-like head unit, which makes it more similar to Seed Destiny's "Zaku Warrior"

Yeah. I don't have the steady enough of a hand to free paint those designs and stencils would be a nightmare when they're that small.
