Description Well, here it is after almost a half year of battling it out on Ebay, the 1/144 LM Leo Custom! And yeah, that's all the great things I have to say about it. Well, I didn't get my hopes up too high, just didn't really know what to expect. I figured there was a reason people battled up to nearly $70 a pop for one of these kits, but the reality is you just don't know what to expect when you buy an LM.

It comes with an awesome 105 mm rifle and is very flexible compared to the LM Daughtress [link] and LM Jenice [link] but decal wise it's not as impressive as either. It just has the run of the mill warning labels that are in Engrish (it's pretty humorous if you pull up a magnifying glass and try to read them, especially if you're an English language buff like myself, and your eyes are good enough to read them). I have a new program (SureThing Decal Maker) that allows me to custom make my own decals, but I'm still playing with it before I test it. I'd like to put a few ID tags its chest and the shield (it's a custom add on from a Tallgeese III kit) of the OZ logo with the suits call name, zodiac symbol, and maybe unit numbers. Like I said, I'm still in the play mode with the program and it may be months before I actually try it.

Though there's a lot of detail, a person (such as one unfamiliar with Gundam Wing as a series and only in models) really doesn't realize how much smaller the Leo is versus the Tallgeese that it is based off. I mean it's a pinky width (mine at least) difference from the head of the Tallgeeses to the head of the Leo. One of these guys stares at the Tallgeese's shoulders since its head is stationary. Though now my collection of official Gundam Wing model kits is complete, I feel rather disappointed. Ah well. Just have to keep kitbashing kits until I'm good enough to build Virgos and all the other exploding bastards.

And even the pic, though a nice show of the model's joint movements, made me nervous resulting in me twitching when I took it and a slight blur, though minimal at a smaller view. I guess I'm just nervous about finally being done with this crusade.

Painted with Model Master Green Drab and Gunship Gray; Polly S Grimy Black, Steam Power Black, and Caboose Red.

Damn you got lucky on this rare kit, also the Leo is nicknamed "cannon fodder of all cannon fodder mechas". ed for such a good work on it.

I paid blood for it.  I need to go back and rebuild it.

Depends on how far I go into the customizing. Painting? Not too bad. New armor ideas? I'm learning. Custom joints? Also experimenting. Totally scratchbuilt designs? Time will tell.

Well, because I was thinking whether you can build the Gundam Burnlapius.

That might be a tall order. I lack a spare kit to start the process. I've eyeballed the design and idea but haven't tried it.

Personally and in my humble opinion, the Burnlapius is a severely underrated design. Wish it was in the recent gundam works.

Wow, talk about a relic.  I heard that a very limited number was indeed made, but seeing it in a picture, wow.

But at the same time, it encourages me to keep working on my MG Leo project.

I'm thinking about trying to rebuild this old kit into something better.  For what I paid, I was definitely feeling remorse later.  I have a B-Club Virgo that utilizes a lot of nice aftermarket bits.  If it works well, I may try to hunt some down to modify the Leo into a nicer kit.

LM (Limited) 1/144 kits. They're rare and a pain to get a hold of due to the sheer number of people who want them. I paid blood for mine. I'm kind of hoping we see a round of new HG versions of these guys since Bandai seems to be upgrading all the AU kits of the 90s (by all I mean like 4 total so far).

Ah, I think Vegeta8259 did a cover of that one.
And I think they made a Robot Damashii version.

It's on my list to be revisited and rebuilt. I doubt I'll get a HGAC version so the LM needs to look its best.

Awesome! Been looking for a kit like this for awhile with no luck. I might try ebay. Either way, awesome color!

really cool....question tho is it possible do you think that you could get this kit without having to deal through ebay, like say another site?

Unfortunately, the rarity of the kit forces a person to play the Ebay game. I had to spend over a year battling to get one kit.

Heh, I wish they'd release a true "HGAC" series so the rather low quality kits Wing had in its 1/144 line up would receive a much needed upgrade. Not to mention more grunt units. I love grunt units.

i can tell, i definately want to get my hands on a leo and a taurus suit, if they had the an ares i would want one of those also, but i do want the already popular ones such as the gouf and zaku suits as well

clem-master-janitor In reply to Cptspalding45 [2008-05-21 00:47:39 +0000 UTC]

There is an Ares kit but it's a resin kit and out of production, which makes it even more rare than the Leo and Taurus and probably pushing +$200 when you bid on it to begin with. I've only seen some out of stock images. Never tried to even attempt to find any of them in my Wing folly days.

Well, with all the fighting I had to do to get it, I wasn't going to not build it. Of course I may have to go back one day and redo it and add some custom decals.

I'm just now getting back into the swing of things and picked up one of these guys fairly cheap, Only thing is I'm recasting mine.

Anyway I was wondering if yours was as beat up in the plastic wrap as mine was. The thing was sealed and everything but a lot of the parts are scratched pretty bad.

clem-master-janitor In reply to mmmPenguin [2007-08-07 23:28:41 +0000 UTC]

Mine wasn't in the best of shape, either. A lot of it was warped just enough so the parts didn't line up perfect. If you really look close, you can see all the beating I tried to use to make it line up with minimal results.

By the way, welcome back!

I just want a nice HG version of the Leo, maybe in the form I've been seeing recently of the more beefed up Leo. Maybe it's a Version Ka design, but I'd love to see it. Love grunt mechs.

I'm sure you'll figure a way. Thanks for the love of the Leo. I should try to update the paint job and decals some day to make it look even better. It's mocking me, the Leo.

It's nice, but with my love of grunt MS designs, I just had higher hopes. Still, it is a good LM kit. Just would've loved some options like the commander type shoulder cannons or the space mode backpack. Guess I can hope for a future HG version in twenty years or so.

OZ-00MS In reply to clem-master-janitor [2006-10-18 22:14:35 +0000 UTC]

Perhaps you could modify the space-mode backpack or shoulder cannons from the Action figure Leo?

clem-master-janitor In reply to OZ-00MS [2006-10-20 01:01:33 +0000 UTC]

I'd have to invest in another Leo kit and that would get very expensive quick. Damn LM Leo Kits run from $40-$60 a pop. Very expensive proposal to undertake, though I have thought about it.

It's such a pity boxed LM Leo's are getting so rare nowadays. Ah well, we can dream of a new HG kit can't we?

Ever managed to come across an Aries resin kit? Now those things are rare.

Didn't know they made them but it's amazing what a person finds when they start looking. Bet it will be a costly find if I did manage to just see one, let alone buy one.

It looks cool, that's true. Would've been nice if it got a full model treatment and you had the space mode backpack, the shoulder beam cannon option, the beam rifles or shoulder shields. But oh well, it was interesting to build!
