I do love the Gelgoog Marine. Wasn't a fan of the Cima Colors on it. I will say at least this design accommodated the sniper option better than the newer Jager. Unfortunately the arms aren't super happy about the heavy shield and heavy rifle together and will sag when not linked together. I bought friction decals for wood derby cars that ended up on this guy. New idea with a learning curve; apply the decals before top coating with acrylic gloss and not after and then final seal. The shield decal survived though it initially looked rough. The ankle decal faded with the stronger topcoat hit it. Lessons learned to use for another day.Related content

The more recent HG-UC kits have better elbow joints, although True Modelers still reinforce them. I know what you mean about Cima-sama's Mariner Commander paint job. It wasn't bland, it wasn't flashy, it was mediocre and uninspired. C'mon, Cima-sama is a guerilla-cum-pirate, make it look interesting! A friend of mine took the kit I purchased & painted it desert sand tan & Zeon dark green.

A bit annoying on the colors, since in-story and in-build the Gelgoog Marine Commander is a pretty good basic commanders' MS. Nothing elaborate, just a bigger gun, a little more output, and some fuel tanks to help out. Oh well, at least Bandai is long since used to fans doing their own thing, and they cater to it.

I look at the wonder on Instagram that people do with this kit and the Jaeger and it makes me feel sad for what I did. Then I remember it gives me the next goal in skills to try and conquer.

This is true. For re-colors, I feel there are three options.
1. Flying Mecha-Circus. It's an 18-meter tall mecha, for Monty's sake! The other side knows you're coming, make sure they know it! Works great on the speedsters and boss MS. Usually the right thing for AU MS....
2. Historical War-Nerd. 'Cause nothing makes a Zaku or Kampfer look better than covering it in 1942 Luftwaffles arctic or desert pattern camouflage. Not my thing, but I must say it looks good when properly done.
3. Sleeves Re-Color. A nice purposeful and professionally cool re-skinning of Titans & Neo-Zeon MS that got lost in the Eighties, color-wise. Just add the decals from the Sleeves unit sheet and admire the result!

Nothing else it does say machine-gun so spray-n-pray is a viable option!
