Description
As the story went, only one of the boys wanted a figure. Then the brother saw what was going on and requested one of his own. I felt bad that I didn't have the options like I did for all the previous Spartans. I ended up having enough to make him happy. I suppose little kids don't worry about accuracy as much as making due and looking cool with what's available. Great trait to keep for adulthood, by the way. The soft bag was my first foray into replicating/casting a part. That was a learning experience. I modified the right arm's shoulder armor to use Jun's knife gimmick and again to use a bigger knife. Stabbity options all over this guy with the recast Brute Shot and Brute Spike Gun. Twin SMGs (the old Halo 3 version...the Halo 5 version appeared as I was out of cash and wanted to have the project done without adding weeks trying to successfully buy and cast the new version) gave me the idea to build a base with a flashing Halloween jack-o-lantern LED. I later decided it needed something else so I added a Bubble Shield. Things went wonky during the build. I reworked the design into a failing shield. It turned out pretty. Definitely tosses scary shadows all over in the dark.Related content

The kids loved it. Was offered money for doing it but said no. Mostly an entertainment idea. I don't know if selling anything I make is a good idea or not.

I know that feeling, it's a complex one, whether we do something for the sake of sharing our creations with others and simply enjoy the appreciation of sharing a thought with others, or making it for a living...
I still haven't done any commission work up to date...

Had to figure out what shape the shields were to begin with. Spent an hour cutting the shapes from a master design. Used some hot glue to stick them to the base and started to build. Turned out the designs wavered as I cut more of them so the bubble started to twist. I read there was a second layer to the shields. Fired up the game to stare at them for a bit and used that to fill out the first layer that ended up jacked to level the design a bit. Still looked rough until I grabbed the wood burner. Melted the glue edges into the inside while 'collapsing' the tops and most f'ed up portion into points of compromise.
tl;dr version? Lots of hot glue, patience, and burns to my fingers.

Wow, sounds mighty complex, chummer.
I assure you, it looks good, so your efforts don't seem to be entirely in vain.
What're the shapes made of?

Hexagons. Lots and lots of hexagons.

Ha, I figured, m8, I figured.
I mean what material? Or do they come from something already made?

Whoops. It's the blister packaging from one of my Combiner Wars figures. Noticed other sites suggesting re-utilizing the clear packaging for these types of things. Worked slick plus super easy to cut so my hands weren't killing me an hour into it.

Oh wow, really?
Creative.
Real creative, m8.
Huh.
As I look at it, I can see that.
Up-cycling, ho!

It does work for some impressive 'hologram' or energy shield designs for displays. Also makes for an excellent excuse to buy geek displays for reusing the packaging.

Ha, as if we need excuses ~
Again, awesome work, m8, even if it wasn't meant to turn out the way it did.
