Description
youtu.be/XOECOxb7CkYOkay, not 'new,' exactly, but not one I've necessarily explicitly mentioned on here, either. I've certainly alluded to a large-scale Star Wars project, but this is the first time I've really done anything relating to it. Suffice to say, it has changed a LOT since the first concept I had. This animation is a test, of sorts. Testing to check render times, my skill (or lack thereof) with animation, and how free models would hold up in a full render. Obviously the ones I've used here I neglected to texture, but I do think they hold up rather well regardless.
I was originally going to attempt to model all of the ships I intend to use myself, and have these as just placeholders, but after attempting a Venator-class Star Cruiser, and failing miserably (turns out those things are surprisingly difficult to model), I decided to keep the Gozanti and the Venator as the free models. All of the models shown here, save for the planet, were found on Thingiverse.com. The planet is just a sphere with a planet texture I found online (points if you can guess which one).
All other models I intend to use I can probably be bothered to make myself, so I'll commit to that for now. That may change depending on how long it takes, though, I want to see my concept in a video *fairly* soon. Oh, and for the Gozanti: I decided to use TIE fighters, instead. I want the year this takes place to be pretty open to interpretation, and TIE Interceptors are fairly specific timeline-wise. Also, the free TIE Interceptor has an enormously high polygon count, so it would never work for my purposes.
If this gets positive reception, I may post the drawing that inspired the animation in the first place, but the final product is a LONG way off.
