Description Okay. Let me explain.

This is NOT an edited mesh of the Titanic model I have. This is an entirely new mesh, which I actually intend to push a LOT farther than I do the Titanic one. One of the most obvious immediate differences is the central propeller. No, not that there's no hole for the screw, I'll add that later, but rather that the hull properly curves up around there. You'll probably also be able to notice the stern as a whole looks a LOT cleaner than the current Titanic model. I definitely still have some cleaning up to do, but it shouldn't be too difficult. Hopefully I'll remember to sort that out before the next render.

So, the elephant in the room. Why the Olympic? Why not stick with the Titanic? Well, it's actually kind of simple: I've always wanted a model of both ships, (Titanic is rather famous, after all), but it is weirdly difficult to convert a model of Titanic into the Olympic effectively. Strange, considering the two vessels were literally identical before they started fitting Titanic out, but basically a lot of the pieces of Titanic that got covered or enclosed, while easy enough to replicate on a model of Olympic, when modelled initially as the modified Titanic, are basically impossible to cleanly re-open. So Titanic will be returning, at some point, but I intend to focus on Olympic, for now. (Oh, and the davits, cranes, lifeboats, et cetera; they can all be used interchangeably between the two ships. So I definitely made progress last year! Just not much on the actual ship).

I also realised that, I've actually HAD a plan for these models; literally for several years, now (before I started my DA page, I was WAY too ambitious for my younger self). A plan that revolves around the Olympic, NOT the Titanic. I don't want to reveal too much more about it, because it has changed significantly over the years, but the focus being on Olympic hasn't, despite what's on my page. So Titanic was always kind of a distraction from what I really intended (though she will be featured).

So, anyway, for this model. I need to start ironing out the N-gons, which I've already started, and I actually intentionally modelled this in a way that, while they are present, they're in obvious places, easy to remove, making this a far better model than the Titanic. I also need to start working on the propeller shafts and wings, and on the propellers. This one will have the two three bladed and one four bladed, since Titanic was the only sister to have three three-bladed! (I'll explain in the next render of Titanic if I remember). Next update should hopefully be getting this to a similar level of completion as when I added the funnels to the Titanic model (Oh, they're interchangeable, as well!). Maybe beyond that level, actually, I might see if I can actually get some of the proper deck equipment in for the next one, as well. Might be fun.

ANYWAY, I had a lot more to say on this one than I think I've said on ANY of the recent Titanic ones, so I'll leave it here. Hopefully you like this one!
