Seriously an amazing shot
Balanced, creative, dynamic, well composed. THe black and white really help the picture stand out more. Truly well done.

I like how you captured the exact moment when it looks like it's smirking at you

Nice contrast in this between the cheetah and the background and lovely capture of the expression too.

Cat Scan indeed! Superb image, all the better for the monochrome treatment.
Cheers

You are so very sweet, Teresa! It was a very hard shot to convert, given the weird winter light (it seems to suck out the color from the cats), but the extra work made it a better black and white file. I lightened the eyes, can you tell? And the expression was due to the luck that comes from waiting for hours. It is my favorite cheetah photo, the result of learning and work.

Great photo, works well in black & white. Subject is well focused, composition is good and subject seems well lit, though I can't quite work out whether this has been increased during editing. Overall a fantastic photo. Well done

Thanks for the thoughtful comment, Matt. Indeed, the photo was edited using Slverlight, with a thousand touches here and there to get it where I wanted it. Just like the old darkroom days. Its a good program, if black and white is your thing. The cheetahs were made for black and white, and they are cheap models. I am obsessed with them, as you can tell. I liked your gallery and put a watch on you.

Thanks for the watch and favorites. I've not used Silverlight before, I usually stick to adobe CS5. It would be great to have a zoo near me where I could spend some quality time but there is only a small one and its not very easy to get the pictures you want through the small gaps in the enclosure barriers. I've watched you too
