Baby jay learns to fly in Kansas. I got his parents through the drought last summer, so they brought him by to show him off. I'm sort of his grandfather, I guess. He has no fear of me and my big lens, but he will never know that I planted that red bud tree four years ago that one day fledglings might learn to fly from it. That's how grandfathers think; giving birth by good husbandry.Related content

Today is my oldest son's birthday; I get two father's days in a row.
