Lovely, reminds me of my photo I took almost exactly a year ago of the british equivilant of your chickadee: [link]
The blossom's late this year though, due to the snow...

Very similar to your photo. The rain just bashed the blossoms off my plumb as well, after sitting out there freezing for two days to get more shots of birds (I was hoping for goldfinch) in the flowering branches. Sadly, this is the best I got, although chickadees are hard exposures in any event, so I should be happy, although I lost detail in the black of the bib. By the way, I think your bird photography is very good, and I encourage you to go as far with it as you can. You have the essential eye for composition. If I were you, I'd matt and frame that thrush, and be sure to get it printed with fine art ink on cotton, say 10"x10", and enter it in a competition. Since the key to photographing birds is loving the doing of it, you have the knack.

The weather is very un-spring like here too...
I think the colours in this are just wonderful
Thank you, I really appreciate your kind words
I may do that! I've started selling prints in a local shop, but not the thrush, so I'll take your advice and order some prints to sell there

I expect you're out there too, Erin, now that trees are coming into blossom.

Yes, I only had success photographing the sparrows with the blossoms, along with some butterflies. But no success with the Hummingbirds, too skittish this year.
All of the trees blossoms are nearly done, Spring is always so early here in the desert of California.

This could almost be a Japanese silk print - the subject, focus and colors are terrific.

Thanks a million, M. I know this guy pretty well, by the white feather in his crown. He's a highly paid model who works for sunflower seeds, but he won't take direction very well, or pause for long to let me get the shot. None the less, for all his quirks, he sure does lift my heart!
