The crest of the breeding female cardinal is obscured by the cherry flower, seemingly as if worn coquettishly, and indeed the tips of her tail feathers show the wear of her mate's attentions. I was young once myself too, and remember that universal urgency that we simply call, "Spring". Hurray for it. The young male finch looks on approvingly, himself caught in the sexual gravity. Bird stories are hard to tell in a square, but for some reason, I search for them. Hope you like this simple one.
