Description The painted desert in Arizona has become a sweet photographic subject for me. With the intention of capturing the muted pastels, I used a very long fixed lens to chase the shadows of clouds as they swept the landscape. I am very happy with the exposure (it was one of many, of course). Please tell me if you like it as well.

Thanks, Sara. I'm doing my best to thank God for his creation. The desert really speaks to me about his love for us, and I want to capture that sensation, and share it. When I look at these colors, I see only love beyond understanding.

Thanks, Erin. I worked hard at this one & got the most out of the lens. Check the settings.

You know, Cindy, the desert is the best place in the world, at least in my heart, and I've been applying myself to learning how to photograph an expression of my love for it. I'm really happy with this particular exposure, just the right light (a lot of it), and my gamble on the f stop really payed off, which was like making myself think in reverse as I cranked down the shutter speed to 1/8 second. I went back to this particular spot to shoot it with 600mm. Then the clouds came along. Talk about luck! I envy you on your hikes with your daughter. Where are you moving?

Ahh, thanks Rene, I am just moving down the street in my Daughters house, that we helped build, but my Daughter an the whole family is moving to Texas. I will miss them greatly. I love Arizona an the desert but the heat is finally getting to me. 110 plus in the shade 6 months out of the year.It didn't bother me the first 6 years, but I get older it bothers me more an more. I have property in Washington that I am seriously considering moving to one of these years, but with my Daughter going to be in Texas, I am considering that also.
The desert is a mystical place an I am still in awe, when you can walk an hear yourself walking it is magical. It has held me for years.
Those who are into photography have learned the magic of capturing that spirit, I am so glad you have found it. It is a special gift we have been given an it will never leave you.
God Bless my friend.
Take care Cindy

I was thinking the same as pearwood, totally surreal. I had to double check that this was indeed a photograph. Wonderful capture

Thanks, Lisa. This is the first time I have returned to a place in an attempt to get it right, doing everything differently, and succeeding in the process. The clouds were luck, of course.

Beautiful, Rene, and surreal.

So, when do you start taking the little one on photography field trips?
