Love the expression on his face.
Excellent shot! The expression, the way he just wraps around the space, and the sheer amount of detail in the feathers is lovely. He's also wonderfully set apart from the bright and blurry background.
Really wonderful pic!

I love how well the sky in his eye works with the coloring on his head. Precious shot.

wow, that is an awesome shot! May I ask, what type of camera/lenses do you use to get a shot like this?
Just beautiful.

Camera data is always visible at the lower right of the page, if you scroll down. You will see that yours is visible too. I have learned a great deal by studying the camera data of photos I like. I got this shot with a Canon D5 Mark II, they just introduced the Mark III, but this one is fine for single exposures. The lens is what makes the photo, a top of the line Canon 300mm, with a 1.4x magnifier (thus making a 420mm). I used a camera-mounted strobe for the shot, with flash-suppressor attached, and I used a heavy tripod. If you ever decide to get into bird photography, and would like advice, just let me know, and I'll help out if I can. It very simple, and strangely rewarding. Good shooting, and thanks for your interest.

Thank you very much for the information. I did not realize (being new to dA) that the camera information was available. I do admire your pictures, they are beautiful.
I do not have the greatest camera right now, but hope to be able to upgrade at some time in the near future.
Thank you for the kind advise.

Beautiful portrait of the jay. I really like how you have captured his inquisitive nature in the pose.

Thanks. It was a Luxury. But I love glass, more than I can afford it.
