Prequel to this: Sy--Syl'?I know what you're probably thinking. "THIS IS THE CUTEST, HAPPIEST KID'S CARTOON EVER, AND YOU'VE GONE AND KILLED THE MAIN CHARACTER."
BUT LET ME STOP YOU RIGHT THERE.
This isn't a death scene. This is a "he might be dead or he might not be, it's up to each person's interpretation" scene, so... yay? Personally I could never really kill off Wander, since he's such a sweet, Southern puff of cotton. So I'm leaving it open to your imagination.
Call me a horrible person, but this was extremely fun to draw, and it's been in my head for a couple days now just waiting to be spewed out onto digital canvas. It's weird, though, because I never finished season two of Wander, and haven't actually seen it since the school-year started. Which means I binge-watched it during the summer, but then school consumed my life and I haven't seen a single episode in over a semester. :'I I should get back on that.

ALRIGHT BUT IMAGINE AN ACTUAL EPISODE WHERE IT'S JUST GOOD OL' WANDER AND HIS PAL, SYLVIA, TREKKING THROUGH THE GALAXY. THEY SAVE THE DAY VIA HAPPINESS, EVEN THOUGH IT'S HARDER THIS TIME. AT THE END THERE'S JUST A NORMAL HAPPY ENDING, WITH WANDER RIDING AWAY ON SYLVIA, LIKE "LATER HA--" CLICK, BOOM, HE FALLS INTO THE STARRY ABYSS. NONE OF THE CHARACTERS OR THE AUDIENCE HAS TIME TO REACT. THE AUDIENCE THINKS IT'S A JOKE. THIS IS WANDER. WANDER OVER YONDER. CRAP DOESN'T REALLY HAPPEN TO WANDER. HE'S PROBABLY 100% FINE AND THE WRITERS ARE JUST GETTING THE CHILD AUDIENCE EXCITED.
BUT THEN THERE'S THIS SLOW MOTION, DRAMATIC VIEW OF WANDER, THAT'S BASICALLY THE ABOVE DRAWING. THE BACKGROUND MUSIC HAS COMPLETELY STOPPED. THERE'S NOT EVEN THE DRAMATIC HEARTBEAT SOUND YOU MIGHT NORMALLY HEAR. JUST ABSOLUTELY NO SOUND AT ALL, AS YOU SEE WANDER INJURED--AND FOR REAL INJURED THIS TIME, WITH REAL BLOOD AND A GENUINELY SHOCKED/PAINED EXPRESSION.
AND THEN HE HITS THE GROUND, HARD AND THAT'S THE END OF THE EPISODE. IT'S THE SEASON FINALE.
NO ONE GETS TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENS NEXT (OR IF HE'S EVEN ALIVE) UNTIL THE NEXT SEASON, WHICH TAKES AGES TO MAKE.
THIS IS WHY I SHOULD NEVER BE PUT IN CHARGE OF A CHILDREN'S CARTOON.
