Awesome! You must have a LOT of patience.
How did you get the thick wire stuff to stay without twisting...? Or sliding out...?
I'm impressed by how it's defying gravity. Any project I try seems to end up drooping before it dries, no matter what.

Clone-Trooper In reply to wanted-dedore-alive [2009-07-20 00:41:52 +0000 UTC]
Thanks sorry for teh slow reply its been rather hectic on my end of the world
well the wire is just that really thick wire haha; it's probable ~2mm in diameter and is ratehr stiff, for the load bearing areas i binded a few together to make sure is was strong enough.
and i used a much smaller gauge of wire to bind the various wire pieces together.
i had a similar problem when i started... the easiest way to go about it is, to think about a real skeleton, which parts are carrying the entire weight of the creature and which just have to hold up a limb.
thats the best i can explain it sorry it just takes a bit of experimentation.
long comment over haha, i hope it helps.

Two day reply...? THAT'S not slow. My 2 MONTH reply is though.
Hmm, that's a good idea, using thinner wire to bind the thickwire more fully.1
Yeah, that makes sense. Ah well, I'll just have to guess 'til I get it right, just like everyone else (dammit) ! Thankyou!

haha just use what you can get your hands on, you could use a epoxy resin to secure it all completely after using the smaller wire

"Epoxy resin"...? What is that (or even better, what's it like, so I can find it or find something similiar... whenever I next attempt a model. At some point. Some time.) ...?

2 part glue, the uber heavy duty stuff, that 'should' secure the wires together enough

There it is my fav dragon!
He's going along beautifully m'dear and I think the scaling is great - I really love em.
I not great at critting sculpts since I dont model at all so I wont but if it helps I dont see anything wrong with him. My fav parts of the dragon are his claws and feet - I think they look amazing. Keep it going I really hope you finish him, it would be a massive shame if you didn't, though you must be really busy.
Take care and see you soon

Glad i could be
I'm using super sculpy, the ceramic like version, its costs about teh same as normal sculpt but you get a little less, but its worth it

LadyMarava In reply to Clone-Trooper [2009-06-12 05:23:14 +0000 UTC]
Interesting...Is it used for just more detailed or realistic sculptures or something?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
Clone-Trooper In reply to LadyMarava [2009-06-12 05:51:08 +0000 UTC]
Not sure, but you can feel the difference in quality, its firmer and doesn't crack as often/at all while baking, and when baked it feels solid and not crumbley. its also easier to detail it
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
GrayTwilight [2009-06-11 13:22:17 +0000 UTC]
Gosh, the detailing is amazing...I think I say this for all your work, don't I? xD Anyway, it's gorgeous!
