Description
Here's an example on how to use my latest meme. Also, 10 characters(in no particular order) who I think fans are too hard on.And please don't argue with me or ignore what I have to say.
Clopin (The Hunchback of Notre Dame)
Those who know me well enough know that I love this guy with a burning passion. They should also know that I grow so sick and tired of him getting ignored, bashed, misunderstood, and whatever else by the Disney fanbase. Trust me, I've explained a lot about how I felt about this matter in numerous previous deviations. Don't make me repeat myself. But I will say this; it's true that Clopin is mischievous and mysterious but that doesn't make it okay to assume that he's secretly "evil". We don't know that. So, keep your dark theories to yourself. Clopin is NOT a bad guy. I like that conclusion and I'm sticking with it whether you like it or not.
Phoebus (The Hunchback of Notre Dame)
Yes, another character from the same movie I previously mentioned. But I'm serious. Does Disney's version of Phoebus deserve as much hate as the Victor Hugo character? I don't think so. I think people are WAY too into the novel to actually appreciate the brave, kind-hearted, humorous character Disney gave us. Yes, we get it! Hugo's Phoebus was a douchebag and even worse than Frollo. But Disney changed that. If you have a problem with that...well, it's YOUR problem. But then, another reason Disney's Phoebus gets so much hate could be because he was the one who got Esmeralda at the end instead of Quasimodo. I think that's unfair and kind of bitter of fans. Phoebus deserved Esmeralda just as much as Quasi did. They both loved her and risked their lives for her. And Quasi was being very mature to let Phoebus have the girl at the end. Besides, at least Quasi got what he really wanted in the first place which was to be accepted. So, will people please be nicer to Phoebus? Like Clopin, he's NOT a bad guy. Just misunderstood.
Pinkie Pie (My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic)
OMFG! I can't STAND how harsh people are on this adorable little pony! They rub it in that they think she's annoying, pan her for being a jerk when she's not intending to be one, twist her into an evil psychopath, and all because she's the least normal of the main six. You know, her not-so-normal ways is part of what makes her so awesome. I mean, what IS normal anyway? I REALLY wish people would go easy on this character. Despite her flaws, I think she's very funny, sweet, uplifting and an all around great friend...even if her friends(or anyone for that matter) don't always understand her.
Belle (Beauty and the Beast)
I know what some of you are probably thinking: "Belle's one of the most popular Disney Princesses. Why is SHE on here?" Well, here's the thing. Even as popular as she is, she's also misunderstood and bashed by some Disney fans. On one hand, there are people who say she's too perfect without a single flaw. On another hand, some think she's an arrogant, condescending snob who thinks she's too good for her life in a Provincial town. Well, I think I can prove them both wrong. While she can be seen as one of Disney's best female role models, she can be a little too curious to the point of being disobedient. Case and point: The West Wing. Plus, she knows she's not perfect. She realizes when her mistakes are made even if not right away. And I know for sure her flaws do NOT include arrogance. It's really the townspeople(with the exception of Maurice and the bookseller) that treat her like she's inferior just because she loves to read books so much. If I were stuck in a town with people who saw me as just a pretty face but otherwise not so acceptable among their kind, I'd wish for more outside that village, too. Especially, if I had to deal with some hot shot who only liked me for my beauty and just wanted me as his property. *coughGastoncough* One more thing. Stockholm syndrome? Pffft! Really, people? I mean, in other adaptions, I can understand. But in Disney's version, it was made pretty clear that she gave up her freedom just to save her father. But she wasn't happy being a prisoner. But in time, she grew to see the gentle person hidden inside the Beast. Yet she just saw him as a friend and still wanted to go home to help her father when he was in need of aid. She didn't realize it was true love til the end of the movie. So, there. So, stop the crap.
Snow White (Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs)
Where do I even begin? I'll start with her voice. People find it annoying. It's NOT annoying. It's unique and it was more of the norm back in the 30s. So, quit whining. Why was she so scared when going into the dark forest? Because she was a scaredy-cat? No! Because it was DARK. Everything around her looked like it was out to get her. Also, keep in mind that she had JUST found out that her stepmother wanted to kill her. So, I think her reaction to it all was perfectly understandable. If the same thing happened to me, I'd be pretty scared, too, and I've been told that I'm very brave. Another thing that's been said about her is that she's too much of a 30s woman stereotype. Well, maybe-ish? I mean, it's not like Snow White is working just because it's expected of her. First of all, she's only 14 and doesn't yet have power over the Wicked Queen which is why she has to work for her at first but, through it all, Snow keeps a positive attitude while working which is a good thing. Second of all, it's because of her positive attitude that she's happy to work for the dwarfs. Yet, she also knows when to take charge when it comes to keeping clean and acts as sort of a mother-like figure to the dwarfs. Her assertiveness is a good sign that she would make a good ruler someday. Finally, about the whole poison apple thing, how were you all expecting her to know that it would be a trick? A "magic wishing apple" may sound impractical in our world but THIS is a fairy-tale world we're talking about where ANYTHING is possible. And how was she supposed to know the old hag WAS trying to kill her? True, she may have forgotten about Grumpy's warning not to let any strangers in the house but she was just acting out of the kindness of her heart. Snow may not be perfect. Who is? But she's still supposed to be an embodiment of goodness and purity. So, it seems kind of unfair that people bash her for being naive. Even if she IS naive, that doesn't make it okay for you to bash her for her mistakes. Oh, one more thing I forgot! Some people even find her boring. She's NOT boring. You guys just get bored too easily. I've always thought she was the most interesting of the three classic princesses. Partly because of, again, her unique voice. So, yeah, it really peeves me how hard people are on this character.
Joy (Inside Out)
Why must people hate on this character and/or pan her for being a "jerk"? Granted she starts off being a little bossy and maybe slightly selfish but her intentions are good throughout the whole film.(It's not like she's any worse than some other Disney protagonists such as Emperor Kuzco or the Beast.) Her main goal is to help Riley live a happy and healthy life with the help of the other emotions. Even though she starts out underestimating Sadness, she DOES learn eventually that Sadness is just as important as any of the other emotions. So, I find it really unfair that some people ignore the positive side of Joy and only focus on the negative. It's like her haters insist on being miserable over being happy and that's really stupid. I don't think any of the emotions deserve hate. They're all important. They all need to be felt every now and then. None of us would be complete without Joy, Sadness, Disgust, Fear, OR Anger. So, if you hate Joy, than you must love to feel depressed/unhappy/etc. And if that's the case, I would suggest you seek help. (Okay, that might sound dumber than I intended but you gotta admit hating the character is like hating the emotion itself if you think about it.) Because we all need Joy just like we all need Sadness and the others. I think another reason some people hate Joy is because they hate the happy-happy characters in general which I think is really sad. It's like those people can't feel happiness themselves. Another reason could be because of Smiler being the villain in The Emoji Movie(Gah, that movie sucks!) which could lead some into thinking that constant smilers can't be trusted. That's also pretty stupid if you think about it. It has been said that sometimes the people who smile the most have more to hide. But that doesn't automatically have to mean anything sinister. People just like to think that way because they're sickos. (Take Pinkie Pie for instance. She's the most light-hearted of the main six but she does indeed have her not-so-happy moments which is partly because her fillyhood wasn't exactly all rainbows and cupcakes. More like rocks and more rocks.) But anyway, in conclusion, please stop being so hard on Joy. She obviously means well. If you can't appreciate that...well then, you're just disgustingly, frightfully, and frustratingly sad.
Basil (The Great Mouse Detective)
Now, here's a character that I wish Isaac from WotsoVideos would look into. This cute little mouse is probably one of Disney's more flawed protagonists and unfortunately more misunderstood in his motives which is why some people actually hate him. But is he really deserving of the hate? I'd like to think not. I mean, sure he does have a bit of a selfish streak and comes off as kind of a jerk at first but do people have to put so much focus on that? He is supposed to be a detective after all and detectives have so much to focus on as it is already. Also, it's pretty obvious that his heart is in the right place even if he IS doing the right thing for the wrong reason. Yes, he's not used to working with children and so may not seem all that nice to Olivia at first but she still trusts him to help her and he DOES soften up to her later on. Also, you know that part where Fidget gets away with Olivia and Basil yells at Dawson for not keeping a close enough eye on her? Well, Basil realizes that he was sounding too harsh with Dawson when he notices the doctor weeping for the poor girl. You can tell by Basil's facial expressions that he really does care and by hearing him say, "Don't worry, old fellow. It's not entirely hopeless. We'll get her back." Plus, that one part where the two are trapped by Ratigan. I think that Basil's moment of self-pity shows that he's not always so cocky or ultra-confident in his brains. It shows that he realizes that he's not perfect and that he can make mistakes, too. Yes, he can be over-dramatic in times like this but it's part of what makes him so enjoyable and at times even sympathetic. So, I think people should go easier on the poor guy. He already has enough tough times to go through with Ratigan and everything. I don't think he needs harsh judgement to rub salt on the wound. Not that he knows what fans say about him. But still.
Princess Peach (The Mario franchise)
Is is because she's traditionally girly and wears pink? Maybe. Maybe not. But if that IS one of the reasons, then it's a really stupid, shallow reason. But I think the main reason she gets so much undeserved bashing is because she's needing to be rescued so often. You think she plans to be kidnapped? You think she doesn't at least try to do things for herself? You think she doesn't thank Mario enough for rescuing her so many times? She may seem like an easy target for Bowser but she's not THAT weak. There has been at least one time where SHE was the one to rescue Mario. Sure, her spin-off game Super Princess Peach has gotten some understandable backlash for sexism but I still found it a fun game nonetheless and it showed that Peach could also be heroic and more than just your typical damsel in distress. I think she should get another spin-off game, just with less feminine stereotype based moves. She can be strong in other ways, I'm sure. But spin-off game or no, she still doesn't deserve the hate she gets from the fans.
Rinoa Heartilly (Final Fantasy VIII)
This is unfortunately one of the most hated games in the Final Fantasy series which is a real shame because it just so happens to be my favorite of the series. And sadly, my favorite character in the game is also one of the most hated and bashed. People seem to think Rinoa's just whiny and overemotional and, like Peach, your typical damsel in distress. Well, phooey on those thoughts. I don't find Rinoa that annoying at all. I find her to be a very charming character. She's kind, sympathetic, sensitive, and full of positive energy. If she seems clingy at times, I don't think it's to the point of her being annoying. I just know she gets that way at some point because she feels scared and/or insecure. I've felt that way before sometimes in life and I'm sure a lot of you have, too. But even during those times, I still find Rinoa to be a strong character. She's not afraid to fight when she has to and she's always willing to stand up for what's right. So, I wish people would be nicer to her.
Catbug (Bravest Warriors)
I can only think of one reason I've noticed some people being too hard on Catbug. Because he killed Jellykid. Come on, guys! You think he did it out of spite? You think he was doing it to be mean? Well, you're just being pissy. He was surely just being a cat...er...half cat. You know cats have hunter-like instincts. So, they have a tendency to go after smaller creatures whether they plan to kill them or not. And even if they DO kill them, it's not out of spite or cruelty. It's only the way nature is. And I'm pretty certain that Catbug did NOT intend to kill Jellykid. He probably didn't even know the meaning of death. He's just a sweet, innocent little kitten-ladybug hybrid. He didn't know any better. So, leave him alone. There may be some other reasons I'm missing why people are so tough on this character but whatever they are, are they really worth hating him for? He's practically just a kid and not a mean one either. Naive maybe but definitely not mean. So, stop with all the hate.
Here are some honorable mentions I can think of at the top of my head:
Rosalina (The Mario franchise)
Amy Rose (The Sonic the Hedgehog franchise)
Cream the Rabbit (The Sonic the Hedgehog franchise)
Ariel (The Little Mermaid)
Cinderella
Italy (Hetalia)
Sailor Moon
Trixie (My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic)
Young Simba (The Lion King)
Aladdin
Naveen (The Princess and the Frog)
Giselle (Enchanted)
Edward (Enchanted)
Litten (Pokemon Sun and Moon)
Elsa (Frozen)
Olaf (Frozen)
Mabel Pine(Gravity Falls)
Ponyhead (Star vs The Forces of Evil)
The other three Beatles besides Ringo (Yellow Submarine)

I agree on Joy. She may have been bossy at the beggining of the film but what is a protagonist without flaws? Boring. She acted this way because the writers needed to have her reform through the story, that's what makes a movie good.

I agree with you most strongly on Snow White. Without Snow White, The Walt Disney Company would not be the company it is today, and probably would have gone bankrupt when movie theaters stopped showing cartoons before the main feature. The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step, and Snow White was that single step. People seem to quickly forget that the world was a different place in the 1930s.
I also agree with you on Belle, too. She not only disobeyed the Beast by entering The West Wing, she also defied her father by taking his place as the Beast's prisoner. And I do not believe that Belle was conceited, either. She just wanted more out of life than what she was getting. A better example of a conceited character would be Scarlett O'Hara from Gone With The Wind.

I'm definitely with you on Belle and Snow White. I swear, if I hear the words "Stockholm Syndrome" in regards to Belle just one more time, I'm going to lose it. And, in regards to Snow White, what part of "product of their times" don't people seem to get? The 1930's had different standards than they do today. Besides which, did they ever stop to think that without Snow White, they wouldn't have their favorite Disney movie? I read somewhere (unfortunately I don't remember where) that if "Snow White & The Seven Dwarves" had bombed, Walt Disney was never going to make another full length animated movie again. They should really think about these things.
BTW, even though I don't watch Bravest Warriors, I think Catbug is too adorable for words!

Well I'm not a huge part of the Disney fandom, I just love the movies. I'm surprised Clopin and Phoebus get ragged on a lot. I will admit when I was wwwaaayyy younger, I was upset Quasi didn't end up with Esmeralda, but now that I'm older, I'm actually way fine with how the events happened between the three, because in the end, all three had a happy ending.
While Pinkie Pie is on the lower end of my favorites in the MLP mane six, that doesn't mean I hate her. I do think she is a great friend altogether, but sometimes her weird side creeps me out. I'd never write her off as a villian or anything, but sometimes she can come on wwwaaayyy too strong or outlandish, which is why while I do like her, she's still just not a personal favorite of mine. (My personal favorites order of the mane 6 is; Twilight Sparkle, Applejack, Fluttershy, Rarity, Pinkie Pie & Rainbow Dash)
Belle is and has always been my favorite Disney Princess so I agree with you 100%.
Ehh, I don't hate Snow White, I thought her singing voice was cute, she did seem a little bland IMO though. Not bad, just bland. But the rest of the movie I wasn't too fond of. Maybe it's because every scene involving the Evil Queen plagued my nightmares as a child. :/
Joy was actually my favorite out of all the emotions because of all the maturing she did throughout the movie. ^^
I liked Basil a lot, plus he's pretty much a Disney-ified tribute to Sherlock Holmes, another fictional character I like.
I personally prefer Daisy over Peach, but Peach is still such a sweet character. I don't think she deserves the hate she gets.
Not into Final Fantasy so I have no over-all opinion of the character. (I try to reserve judgment until after I watch a movie or play a video game in this case when it comes to characters.)
I'm not into the Bravest Warrior's fandom, but I always found Catbug to be cute.
As for your honorable mentions; I agree with: Rosalina, Amy Rose, Cream, Cinderella, Sailor Moon, Trixie, Naveen, Litten & Elsa
I'm not a part of the Hetalia fandom, so I have no opinion on Italy other than he was cute from what I saw.
I haven't seen Enchanted, so no opinion there. Same with Yellow Submarine.
As for Ariel, while I don't explicitly hate her, oddly enough I much rather prefer her father over her. I guess maybe because I can sorta sympathize with him? Ariel isn't a bad character, but all she did was see a man dance, then later rescue that one one man and suddenly she's head over heels in love with him and has to be with him! Even though she knows pretty much nothing about him other than he's handsome? Honestly I can relate more to her father, because even though he has a bad temper, all he wanted to do was protect his daughter. Essentially do his job as a father, to protect his daughter from a strange man who for all he knows could attempt to hurt her.
I honestly don't like the Lion King. At all. I'll just leave my comment at that. The only thing I like/can relate to is Scars quote: "I'm surrounded by idiots",
I'm not a huge fan of Frozen, but Olaf was my least liked character. I understand how people can find him cute, but to me, he was just too annoying.
As for Ponyhead. There are some moments I actually like her and some moments she annoys me way too much. :/

I agree with you on most of the characters. I understand your point on Basil, though. As for Clopin, I used to think he was a bad influence, but I never thought of him as the type to work for Frollo; just more neutral and naughty, if you know what I mean. My mom saw him that way, too. Now I see how good he is.

Sorry about that mentioning a fellow DeviantArt deviant like that.
But, to be honest with you - one of the reasons I like Peach, to keep it short, was because I identified with her in also feeling trapped during the entrance into my double digits with a rage addicted father wanting me for himself and taking me away from my mother when they divorced. Good thing he’s locked up now and I still have my mom in this world.

I like Peach as well but you'll just have to learn that not everyone is going to feel the same way. And at least you're not a 12 year old retarded kid (he's more of a Rosalina fan) who said that they wished they never see them again over a dislike of a character. I'm very sorry what you have to go through.
