Description
My entry for The Decemberists poster competition, details of which can be found here:[link]
'The Hazards Of Love' is a concept album, and I chose to base my poster on the unpleasant shape-shifting character. He's in his innocent fawn form, as he is introduced in the song 'The Hazards of Love 1 (The Prettiest Whistles Won't Wrestle The Thistles Undone'.
The winning entry will be used as the official poster for the show, and lots of copies will be posted all over Austin! How exciting!
I sketched out my original concept, then scanned and coloured it in photoshop.
Any comments?

This makes me think of that once bit of 'the Queen's rebuke/the Crossing'
And gave him the form of a faun to inhabit by day~
Love that song. The album. The band.
Awesome pic~

I really like it! totally the feel of the album right here. And I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought the faun (william) was a sinister character but I guess he's the good guy in the story haha

The fawn on this is adorably done; reminds me of those really old, cutey drawings from children's books.
I'm still confused about the shapeshifter in the story. So is he the one who falls in love with Margaret and has a baby with her, or is he the one who kidnaps her (or is that the Rake)?

Thank you!
My partner has ordered The Hazards Of Love on vinyl, which should arrive on Monday, which will be the first time we listen to the album ever - we've managed to resist the album leaking, and purchasing it on iTunes so far! So I guess we'll get to figure out who everyone is properly then!

I love this one. I've seen a few of the entries, but none like this. I love how you portrayed the shape-shifting fawn. The shadow along the trees looks great. It's eerie and child story-book-ish at the same time.

Thank you so much! I'm really pleased with it, I think the lack of diversity in colours would work well as a screen print. If the Decemberists plan a UK tour for the new album, I might see about getting some copies of this poster organised for one of the dates - if they don't object that is!
I really appreciate the comment, thank you! x

You're absolutely right about the colors - it was one of the few entries I saw that really looked like a concert poster to me. I would go to that concert if I saw that poster advertising it. Then again, I am partial to The Decemberists, so I'd go either way. XD I don't see any reason why they would object.
Oh, you're very welcome.
