When I close my green eyesIf I focus I can see
People and places from my past
Etched in my memory
If a blind man closes his eyes
What can he possibly see
Without any visual images
Stored in his memory
How do I describe colour
To man who is born blind
The same way I describe my love
Within these heart felt rhymes
When I close my green eyes
I use my mind to conjure up
Dreams of the future, based on
Pages already written in my book
If a blind woman closes her eyes
What future can she see
Unable to visualise
Her fate and her destiny

my eyes are green too,i told this to my blind friend once.she asked me what color her eyes were,i said light blue.she asked me what the difference was.we were sitting outside,on the trampoline on a spring day.I came to think on it,wanting desperately to have an answer for her,what i gave her was this.I told her to breath in deep,she did just so.a nice breeze passed us by,as it almost always does here in the plains region of texas. I told her that was green,that fresh feeling of being out in the open,that fresh grass smell with a hint of oak and evergreen,that yearning lay in long grass and let the dog curl up next to you,green was peace.i told her to get up and jump as high as she could and just let herself fall.she did,and we both giggled away when we fell.I asked her if she felt that suspended in air feeling,even for just a second,she said yes,kinda like flying she guessed.i told her that was light blue,the feeling of flight,that happy giddy feeling,the butterflies in your stomach you get going down a hill,i told her light blue was like the sky,never ending and beautiful,it was freedom. i guess that's about as good as i could get it too her. your poem made me think of this moment,but more than that it was heartfelt and lovely. gorgeous work.

actually we've talked about blindess today and in a way it's not at all negativeβ¦ wonderful poem, I love it. Sometimes I wish, my eyes were blind so I wouldn't be influenced and starring at peopleβ¦

yeah, its such an interesting thought. If everyone were blind and always had been blind. Things like racism etc just couldnt exist really in the same way anyway. And maybe people would feel more love rather than being distracted by temporary things like physical beauty

Before i fell in what i consider to be true love i used to just think it was liking someone alot. But my opinion changed meeting someone special. But it is very difficult to describe what the feeling is
