Description This is NOT free to use! So please... don't. Thanks.

I'm now offering commissions of pixel gemstones like these! If you're interested, check out this journal !

Have a meanie.

Pyrope is one of Iolite and Onyx 's superiors, in command of a legion of ships under Yellow Diamond. On an otherwise normal inspection of one of said ships, she comes across a rebel gem, fighting to free someone imprisoned there.

Disgusted by how easily the intruder dealt with her Quartz guards, Pyrope challenged this gem to a one-on-one fight, planning to simply end the disturbance then and there.

The gem is revealed to be a fusion.
Let's just say... things didn't turn out too well after that.

With a high refractivity, this gemstone was a challenge, to say the least. With it being a checkerboard cut, I couldn't just go with the typical pixel vector style I was using for the rest of the gems I did, so this one is perhaps much more heavily referenced than the other ones. That said, I think I definitely prefer it with the extra detail, even with it taking much longer to finish.

Ooh, this gem is so pretty? I really like how the gem reflects! It looks so simple, but so realistic at the same time.

That's caused by the high refractivity of the stone! It was certainly a challenge to figure out how to draw it, but I think it came across alright. Thank you for such a nice comment! ^u^

One of the perks of this project is that I'm noticing a lot of the patterns among my characters, and a lot of the differences! Colours are a definite in that, but so too are the gem cuts and personalities.

For one, though Onyx is technically a red gem (it has red in it), I don't have a single orange or pink gem (if not counting Desert Rose) in the main cast. Contrast that with all of my green and blue gems... I think it becomes pretty obvious what my favourite colours are, though there is a legitimate reason as to why I have it that way. ^^

The more I learn from you! And here I thought Onyx was always a blackish/grey stone. My OC Onix does have some red in her...I think. Dark Gems: Obsidian and Onix . My word, if you ever turn these beautiful gems into a humanoid form, I can't wait to see them!

Ah, I was more speaking of my personal Onyx character; her gemstone is black, grey and white with some red bands in it. Actual onyx comes in a variety of colours, though, not just black: red, green, yellow and white to name a few of the more common ones.

I've actually drawn many of these characters before, especially those of my main cast. I'm hesitant to post a lot about them online, though, since their stories are a bit more personal than those of Zircon's and Chara's. ^^' I may begin to if I get enough interest, but it's likely their actual backstories won't make much of an appearance.

Ooh, I would love to see your Onyx! She sounds beautiful! Man, I love learning new things about geology from you! I told my dad there were different shades of Apatite (his favorite gem) courtesy of your lessons, and he flipped the heck out! XD He thought I sounded so smart! THANKS A MILLION CLOUD-SENSEI!

Mmmmm, still not sure about posting my gem characters up online. I might. I've literally just revamped all of their designs. Hmm. <_>

And I'm glad I could be of help? Google is my friend in a lot of cases. XD Gotta love me some gemology facts.
Apatite is certainly a rare pick for a favourite! Not many people even know it exists. I definitely like it myself, but I don't think it's quite up there with my own first picks, there's just... too many pretty minerals. ;w;

I could always go to Google, but hearing that I learned this from someone else makes me old man so happy. XD He fell in love with Apatite when he was a younger man and couldn't get it out of his head! I myself had never heard of it until recently. I even made a Steven Universe OC of it!High Council: Steven Universe OC's

He definitely has reason too! It's a really neat mineral. ^^ I think I only discovered it recently as well, but considering Apatite was one of the first characters I ever designed, "recent" more likely means a few years.

Cool OC, as well! I'm sure there are some interesting stories behind that council of yours. c;

If I had to choose a favorite mineral...that would be so impossible! There's so many and they're all beautiful!

I loved creating these OC's and have a somewhat...coherent story line for them. I still need some tweaking and perfecting.

Saaame. XD

Not every OC needs a finished story! Sometimes the greatest fun comes from just throwing them into random situations and seeing how they'd react. (Which I'm totally not guilty of. No. >.>) But I certainly gain enjoyment from developing the heck out of characters' backstories. The storyline is kind of... a little bit of an afterthought. ^^'

Exactly! I'd rather make it up as I go, ya know? XD
