The last panel with those tents side by side remind me of the roman army images you drew for some reason. It must be the angle and perspective. Not that I'm complaining. Both are amazing. It was odd for me that my pattern sense triggered.

Huh, surprised he managed to sweep a zombie off it's feet without it trying to bite him before he realised, or at least struggling to do so... surprised it opened the door too.

Not to mention the smell. One would think Grimes could tell the soldier was a zombie from the scent alone. The two factors you mentioned, while great points, were sacrificed for dramatic effect.
