how did twilight and spike find themselves in what looks like middle earth

Beautiful, you get a real sense of distance with the snow covered mountain range beyond the valley. Looks like those two are mid way through a journey to far lands deciding if they'll have time to make it to a safe place to sleep near the base of the mountains before the next day of frigid climbing.
