"Ow-ow-ow.. CAREFUL!" Raven winces and scowls.

"I'm trying to be! Just stay still!" I wrap the last strand of medical tape around her swollen toes, "ok, done. Hw do they feel now?"

"Still really sore.. but a lot better now that they are immobilized. Thanks. Do.. do you think I broke them all?"

This is about an hour after the celebratory outing for the recent removal of Raven's latest batch of casts. She had threatened to tease me with non medical ones.. but really recently there has been no need for that, unfortunately for her. We had gone to the local indoor climbing wall, but Raven had slipped from the wall and swung out really far before slamming back in to the wall. Those climbing shoes really don't offer much support for toes and, well to say the least they suffered for it. Her pride had allowed her to limp out of the facility on the balls of her feet, but just barely.

"I hate to say it, but yeah. I think they are broken. You don't want to hear this, but you probably need a hospital to treat this"

Raven gingerly picks up her legs and holds her bandaged toes in the air to inspect them. A few tears form that she fights back, looking at the bruised, swollen and somewhat crooked toes in front of her. "Maybe they aren't as bad as they look," she says unconvincingly, "I will probably be fine.."

"Raven," I say sternly, and instead of argue I just brush my hand against her right foot

"OW!!!! Ok, ok. Maybe you're right. Take me to the hospital I guess"
