Edit: W00t! Fixed the weird background problem x3

This is my second submission for GigaReset's Trainer Trash and Pokemon Posse contest.

All of the artwork in the picture was hand drawn by me. Devan was sketched by me on paper and then scanned into photoshop and edited. The trainer card was designed exclusively in photoshop.

I apologize for the awkwardness of the background. Again I attempted to make it transparent, but something is preventing my PNGs to be uploaded to dA properly. They show up right on other websites, but I'm not sure what the problem here is. If anyone has any advice on how to fix, please comment or PM me.

Here we have Devan, my OC trainer in a Pokemon RP called Paths Connected. You'll notice right off that Devan doesn't have any badges, and he seems to be having a bit of trouble handling his Arcanine, Caldera. In all reality, Devan isn't a particularly good trainer.

I wanted him to be unique, and instead of having yet another "I am/wanna be a pokemon master," Devan is simply not that sort of guy. He's not a hero, or a villain, and yet his role in the RP is a lot bigger than he could have ever imagined.

By sheer luck (or complete lack thereof) he finds himself entangled in a dramatic and perilous journey across Totorri (the Custom region of the RP, and yes, I drew the picture of the region on the card) that he really wanted no part of. Yet, his location and timing in meeting the people that he runs into pull him into a current from which he cannot escape.

Soon he finds that many people and all pokemon are relying upon him and his happenstance allies to find an alternative means to banish an ancient evil from the planet-- or else destroy every living pokemon to rid the demonic entity of its power.

Devan's Bio:
A young, lonely wanderer, outcast and lost. He left his parents and siblings at a young age to escape the criticism and pain of rejection. After that, he roamed the world alone for a long time, searching for his purpose. He met many people on his journey, but to his dismay, they all betrayed him. His worst memory however, is of a young woman he met almost three years ago. He had been madly in love with her, and had asked for her hand in marriage. She accepted enthusiastically, but less than three months later, she got cold feet, and ran out on him. The separation has made him bitter, but deep inside, he still loves her. He now doesn't trust people, and is cold to strangers he's never met. He's lost all sight of who he was when he was much, much younger, and he scorns the idea of love. However, there is still hope in him, or he wouldn't be on this journey to find himself.

In his travels through one of the bad areas of his home town, he stumbled across a fighting ring, where people were badly abusing growlithes and other dog pokemon and making them fight to the death for their own profit. He stepped in, and got them busted...but not in time to save most of the monsters. Many of the monsters died, others were snatched up by the authorities. They said that the creatures no longer stood a chance to be saved, as they were trained for all their lives to be violent to all people. He watched as they took them away, and he was about to leave himself when he heard a pained whimper from the back room. He went to investigate, and inside, lying on the floor in a pool of blood, he found a little female growlithe. She was too weak to move, and with the authorities still around, Devan didn't want to risk dragging her out. With a deal of effort, he took her and hid her under his jacket, fleeing the scene. He worked hard to nurture the creature, and nursed it back to health. They became strong friends, and he named the growlithe Caldera. In his travels, he obtained a fire stone, and evolved his companion into a mighty arcanine.
