Description Welcome to the Coasterfreak's Custom Coasters Showcase. Today we are showing off a revisit to Stronghold, which is one of our biggest wooden roller coasters. Β We have improved the ride on multiple fronts and hope you will enjoy the ride.

Can you survive the Stronghold?

Here is what was changed:
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- Updated Station with guest entry and exit.
- Smoother transitions between turnsΒ
- Added Scenery to add a bit of amusement park vibes
- Replaced all of the older darker wood with a lighter wood color style.
- Fixed reduction to have smoother slowing of the train down.
- Changed the train style to have a more modern feel.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Here is the Older Version of Stronghold compared to the HD version.

Hi, while I may have digressed a bit from the main artwork everything I said still correlated back to it. While my critique might not have helped you I still do not think my critique reflected any biases or irrelevant commentary. Of course, you are completely allowed to reject it and I respect that choice. But what part of it kept it from being objective?

Oh wow, it's like I'm in an actual rollercoaster. I can see a lot of work has been put into this based on the amount of details in the surroundings alone - the track, constructs, the house and the trees in between the rollercoaster. I don't know if those trees are a smart design decision, as their roots could become a problem for the foundations of the constructs, but it looks nice. I like that there's even a path to walk next to the track for the maintenance people; really adds to the realism! And is there water at 3:50? Or just shiny tiles or so? And the roof even has little tiles on it! All I can say is awesome job at all the details, it really makes the ride realistic!

The ride itself is cool, too, but I feel the build-up is perhaps a little too steady; it doesn't go slower when it gets to the top like is the case with real rollercoasters, so that little extra suspence and anticipation of almost tipping over the top is kind of missing.
But what I love is that it even shakes when it goes fast; again adding to the realism, very well done! Then towards the end the track swings left and right, I like that e.deviantart.net/emoticons/s/s… " width="15" height="15" alt="" data-embed-type="emoticon" data-embed-id="391" title=" (Smile)"/> However, I don't know if it goes fast enough. I wish it'd go faster.

The music's a nice additive, it really adds to it, making the ride cooler.

The background's a bit bland, although I guess at the same time it doesn't distract from the ride. I see some trees in the distance, but they seem very small. However the surroundings within the outer edges of the rollercoaster are really nice, though. For instance the view at 1:21; I like all the corners we get to see, and how we get to go underneath another part of the track and get a close-up of all the constructs.

Now, at 2:18 or just before that, there was a little something in the bottom of the screen. I couldn't see what it was, but it was kind of distracting.

Oh you should've put people in the carts when we see the 3rd person view, that would've been funny e.deviantart.net/emoticons/b/b… " width="15" height="15" alt="" data-embed-type="emoticon" data-embed-id="366" title=" (Big Grin)"/>

Well, it was a long ride, but that's awesome for rollercoasters e.deviantart.net/emoticons/b/b… " width="15" height="15" alt="" data-embed-type="emoticon" data-embed-id="366" title=" (Big Grin)"/>
Yeah I think this is really well made, but I'd really love to see this go faster. Though while I was watching this, I kept saying "Oh cool" several times, so you know you did a good job on this! e.deviantart.net/emoticons/b/b… " width="15" height="15" alt="" data-embed-type="emoticon" data-embed-id="366" title=" (Big Grin)"/> It'd be awesome if this rollercoaster was real; I'd love to try it in real life!

Sorry if this critique sounds a little detached, I tried reassembling it a bit, but these are my responses as I was watching the video, so yeah e.deviantart.net/emoticons/x/x… " width="15" height="15" alt="" data-embed-type="emoticon" data-embed-id="93" title="XD"/>

Coasterfreak In reply to TheBaekhoRanger [2016-05-03 19:02:20 +0000 UTC]

Let me address some of your concerns

1) If the ride went any faster the entire support structure would have to change with it to handle the extra force applied to it.

2) If this was built for real The builders Β would take into consideration of any existing and new trees in the middle of the ride thanks to the civil drafters drawings sent to them.

3) I'm still working on to improve my experiences in No Limits Roller Coaster Simulator 2, so in the future I can add that lift hill speed change.

4) I'm going to be adding more rides in the background later on, so in future rides you may see stronghold in the background, but as of now it is a bit bland in the background and will be fixed in new videos.

5) The thing you saw was the clipping of the background objects around the coaster with the viewpoint, I usually don't have this problem as with not using objects around the ride, I will have the view positioned better in later rides.

6) Unfortunately, No Limits Roller Coaster Simulator 2 doesn't render people in the trains at this point, maybe when the creators of the simulator do make a way to put people in, then I can make that happen.

Thank you for your time to comment and thanks for riding Β

The coaster ride was so much fun, cool animation there.Β
I can see your hard work in there, particularly in the way you build those high tracks. The grass, sky, light in the window and bricks also looked realistic. The bird's eye view of the red collar coaster was also interesting but in the fist one you could actually feel that you're sitting in it. I also enjoyed the music in the back ground, good choice of music I also liked when it slowed a bit when going up and really fast when falling, pretty believable.Β
Personally, I didn't like the steel arrow on the first roller coaster, it was kinda distracting for me.Β
You're already doing a great job here, but it would be so much fun if you can keep on changing the view, for example roller coaster going through smoke or if some thing comes in front of it and you pass right trough.Β
I hope this helps, keep up your good work!

The steel arrow is part of the model in the simulator, that I can't change other changing the train type

Funny that you mention I have a coaster going through smoke..so check out Mystic v2.Β

I use the No Limits Roller Coaster Simulator 2 Program, it runs the ride with real world physics, so what you see, it would do in real life.

Thanks for riding!Β

Looks really nice! The texturing seems simple, but that works well here. Colors are nice and inviting. Not too big a fan of the fonts at the beginning, seemed rather overdone. Something more simple can still look very cool, without distracting.
Animation was nice and smooth, so great work there.Β
I would have liked it if the music went together with the footage a little better. now the two don't fully seem to be supporting one another.

I feel some music theme is better than nothing at all. I do usually go with the font theme I used for the logo card.

Thanks for stopping by and Riding!

Virtuxa In reply to Coasterfreak [2016-06-15 15:16:28 +0000 UTC]

That is certainly true, but it never hurts to try to make sure it fits as well as possible.
As for the font; I still think reconsidering it might not hurt; the rest of the video is spot on, but simply a better colorscheme could already lift the typography up a fair bit.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Coasterfreak In reply to Virtuxa [2016-06-15 15:36:30 +0000 UTC]

I can only go with fair use music most of the time so it is hard to come with a music theme with the pre-selected tracks

I aspire to be come a roller coaster designer, but as of now, I do this as a hobby, but I'm a real Coaster Enthusiasts and I do try to make all of my creations as close to realism as possible. Most of my designs have concepts and elements that other real world coasters don't have. If you have any more time, I recommend to ride some of my other roller coasters, I don't think you will be disappointed.Β

I'm also working with a new simulator, so I'm working out the new features of it, so that is also taking my time up to my new ride. Rest assure that the next one will be epic.
