Description
*this is a basic guideline (or a tutorial) of how to draw eyes in anime (and some western / marvel) style.*---
for diannaa : notes
t the ch
TITLE / LEGEND
the EYES
EASTERN / ANIME style [green] -
> these are various styles of eyes that you would mostly see in most animes and as well some of the most basic one. For every style of eyes , i did two pairs (each for a different styles of cornea - the first one is the regular one , practically you would see on most animes , while the other one that comes in an a oval shape is another practical style for cornea).
>> try to practice one at a time or choose a style you like and then go practice drawing it until you have the confidence that you can definitely draw it w/o a hassle. Once you get a grip of one's style that you like , then try to practice the other style of eyes so that you can enhance more in drawing eyes.
WESTERN / MARVEL or DC's STYLE [yellow] -
> i decided to add some the basic eyes that is more of a western style esp like in Marvel's or DC's comics. These eyes are more base in real-life appearance so in comparison w/ the anime style , the are much complex but realistic to learn.
>> if you look at it , its not really that hard to draw , since they are much smaller and fix in terms of expressions (the only thing that affects the expression in regards w/ the eye is the eyebrows).
THICK LINES : differences between a gurl and a guy EYEBROWS and the UPPER PARTIAL BORDER of the eye [brown]
> Let's start w/ the upper partial border of the eye first , if you look at my example , the upper partial border of the eye of a gurl (the right one) is thicker in comparison w/ the guy's eye (the left one). This is normal , due to the fact that girl's eyelashes are much thicker (and they tend to make it more obvious in make ups) than a guy's. So that's the reason why some animes express this style (tho today in modern animes it is not express that much but still this is one traditional part of the eye that is a "must-know" style).
> in contrary to the upper partial border style , guy's eyebrows are thicker than the girl's. This is to express the feminine and masculine looks by judging from the eyebrows alone (some animes esp those that are fighting-base have some male characters that doesn't have an eyebrow but a thick , bumbed , eyebrow-shape is shown - best example would be Street Fighter and some of Dragon Ball Z's - this is to show how masculine the character is.
>> always remember these two factors whenever you draw an eye.
EYEBROWS - one crucial way of facial expression [gray]
> always remember this , in drawing an expression (esp facial expression- whether anime or cartoon) eyebrows is one of the best way alone to express one's feeling (esp in anime). Doing the expression w/ the eyebrow is fun and challenging , so whenever you want to draw something that expresses a feeling , eyebrow is one of the main factors you must know about it.
>> whenever you wanted to expresses something , eyebrow will be one of your powerful way to do it.
EYE PERSPECTIVE in regard w/ the POINT-OF-VIEW of the head [red]
> some peeps are having a hard time w/ this issue : how to align the eyes properly when the head if facing a certain point-of-view ? this is quite hard for perspective is one of the most major factor you must know about drawing.
>> i made some examples of some basic perspective head-view , try to practice some of them 'till you get the point of how perspective works in the face alone ^_^"""
>>> i hope this helps you somehow , these are the basic styles and ways on how to draw and eye , have fun practicing~! ^^ !
