Without asking for any further permission she shoved the glasses on to my face, and it was only through sheer luck that they stayed there through my squirming yelp of disapproval long enough for my attention to be taken by a flash of graphics appearing on the lenses.

Harry pulled the backpack open a little further, showing me more computer hardware that - with the blinking of green and blue LED lights - was presumably doing something.

"Blink is a user interface based entirely on sight," she said, as my eyes focussed on the projected images inside the glasses. "Intended as a universal mediation layer between the user and hardware that they are either too far away from to physically control or..." our eyes met meaningfully across tiny icons "...unable to manipulate themselves in other ways."
