Gizoid Archives - Kronos, the Ancient Weapon,Kronos, the Ancient Weapon and the Temporal AnnihilatorOrigin: Post-Nocturnus Clan disappearance, other records lostName: KronosTitles:Temporal AnnihilatorAncient WeaponTime ConquerorLord of TimeBlack Gizoid or Jaded GizoidFavored Abilities:Time manipulationDarkness manipulationSpear summoningWeapons:Time Cleaver (energy sword, two-handed glaive)SpearsCharacter ConceptKronos was a villain Gizoid I created before any other, and was the first original Gizoid concept I came up with. I based him on the Time Eater from Sonic Generations, with a few design concepts from StarCraft 2: Legacy of the Void.Kronos’s DesignKronos is a primarily midnight black colored Gizoid, with plates of platinum on his face, under-chassis, and the rods making up his upper limbs. His lower arms and legs are embedded with jade jewels, as well as the knuckles of his fingers. His eyes are also colored jade green by default, and he had little clock hand ornaments on his head’s side screws. His Gizoid horn has another small jade jewel embedded on the tip. And behind the horn is a series more horns, arranged like a mohawk and continuing down, leading into a multi-plated head tail. This was based on Alarak’s headdress, from StarCraft 2: Legacy of the Void, but it is also (unintentionally) similar to the large head-tail of Wulfric from Xenoblade 2.He also has a cape, and on the bottom edge of his cape, as well as around his torso, are roman numerals, matching up with the hour numbers on a clock.Kronos’s Weapons and Combat Style,Kronos’s made weapon for him was the powerful energy glaive known as the Time Cleaver. Kronos will use his time energy to power up the weapon and form the energy blade, vaguely taking the shape of an old-fashioned clock hand, with the form of a clock (namely, the roman numerals in a circle) appearing at the base of the blade. The Time Cleaver weapon is a two-handed glaive, using strength for powerful strikes, though Kronos actually only wields it in one hand, making slow and deliberate movements, as if he has all the time in the world (which, technically, he does). He does this both for intimidation and to establish his dominance as a god, and to leave one hand free for his special abilities.Even still, Kronos is a skilled and powerful fighter, and his strikes with his Time Cleaver are powerful blows, tearing apart the ground and cutting through tough metals with ease. Kronos can also move at terrifying speeds, but “not blink and you miss it” speeds.Kronos also has spears, which similarly have energy blade tips, again shaped like the tip of a clock hand. He stores these in an extradimensional space using his time abilities, for using with a Skill, which will be listed below. But it should be noted that he seems to have an endless amount of these Spears. That is because he uses his time abilities to duplicate the spears, and over time, they’ll vanish when the flow of power is lost.Kronos’s Favored SkillsKronos may not be part of the new generation of Gizoids, but with the fragment of the Time Eater embedded in his core, he is more than capable of creating his own Skills, all based around time manipulation.Kronos doesn’t time travel, but it isn’t known if it is because he is incapable of doing so, or if he simply doesn’t want to. If it’s the latter, then it could be because it won’t help in his goals, or he doesn’t like to directly mess with the possibilities of time.Though, Kronos does bear the ability to see through time, able to view the past and the possibilities of the future. This isn’t really a Skill though, just an effect of his abilities. But he can only see big events, so small details, like enemies he’s currently fighting, or even making secret plans to stop him, are missed.Temporal Field:A core of his time abilities, Kronos will generate a small field of warped time. Anyone and anything that enters this field will have their flow of time rapidly slowed down, slowing them down to a near snail’s pace, where they can’t quickly reach Kronos. This is his regular defense. He keeps this field up almost constantly, and it takes little energy for him, allowing him to easily keep fighters and even projectiles away from him. That’s why he moves so slowly and deliberately in his combat style, because he literally has all the time in the world.Kronos can also use this in a combat maneuver, creating temporary fields at a distance, to trap foes as they attempt to charge him, or to stop projectiles before they can fire, assuming that getting slowed down as they approach and get close is not enough. But this isn’t a perfect defense. The field will drop if he tries to use another Skill, giving an opening for his enemies, before he can bring the field back up. Also, enemies with high-speed Skills, such as Chrome, with his lightspeed motion, and maybe Cobalt, with his Speed Boost Skill, can overpower the field with their speed and break it.Time Spears:As mentioned above, Kronos has spears. Now it’s time to explain how he uses them. He’ll open up small time portals, and shoot the spears out of them at high speeds. He can open up many portals at once, and he can open them up and shoot the spears very quickly. For Kronos, this is a small effort for him, and functionally just a part of his regular combat abilities. But, it is also part of the reason why he is so dangerous to fight.Time Sever:With a series of upward slashes, Kronos will spread lines of dark time energy in various patterns, before each one bursts into a wall of energy, blasting enemies back.(This Skill is inspired partially by Mustache Girl’s move in the Final Boss of A Hat in Time where she throws Time Pieces on the ground and causes line burst attacks, and partially by Red’s sword attacks in the fangame, “Undertale: RED”, where she slices the bounding box in half.)Light Freeze:As Kronos was originally testing his powers, he asked himself, what is the fastest something can travel? And can he stop it in its tracks? And so, he tried it.This resulted in this Skill. He can stop the very particles of light in their place, leading to absolute darkness. Only the dim light of his blade can be seen, and only up close, is it not affected by this power, as is Kronos himself.Imagine stumbling through the darkness, where nothing, no flashlight, or infrared vision, or anything, can help you see your way, while a powerful god machine hunts you down. Terrifying, right? From this point, this simple Skill he created, along with the negative energies of the Time Eater fragment in his core, Kronos was able to further master dark energies.Shadow Bolt:Using the dark, negative energy of his Time Eater fragment, Kronos will channel darkness, a black and jade smoke, and toss it as a projectile. There isn’t much more to say about it, other than it’s a fast projectile, and pierces defense.Dark Empowerment:Kronos can channel his energies and imbue them into his allies, greatly enhancing their own power, often to devastating results. It was with this ability, that Kronos gave [REDACTED] the power to destroy a world with the Dread Zealot’s own Skill, “Devastation Storm”.Paradoxical Rewrite:Along with his ability to see the timeline, even as it forms, he can write or rewrite history at his will.He uses this as a form of brainwashing, literally taking someone, and rewriting their history, typically into someone loyal to him. And this isn’t overriding their memories, this is literally changing their timeline as if they have lived a life of devotion to Kronos. The thing is, this only changes THEIR history, not the greater history, and everyone else still sees them as who they were before he changed, unless they catch onto the changes (and how hard this is to do is dependent on how much they hides the changes, which they might not). So, this new timeline the brainwashed victim has lived is a false one. It is a paradox. And this paradox can only hold because of the flow of Kronos’s power. If the flow of time energy forming the paradox was broken, then time would fix itself, and the victim would return to normal, none the wiser as to what happened to them. Kronos can form a feedback loop to keep the energy flowing through them, so they act independently of him, without him having to constantly feed them more energy. But if you... rough up the victim enough, the energy loop breaks, as does the paradox. But it is through this ability that Kronos got his first followers. Most of his followers are not affected by this Skill, as it takes too much energy for him to do this, but it was enough to start building his ranks.Additional:It is possible for Kronos to have more abilities, all based on his time and darkness powers. You should be ready for anything if you plan to face him.Story and CharacterThe original Gizoids are ancient weapons, created by a civilization that was thousands of years far beyond their time in technological developments. One day, their civilization vanished, and it was believed that one of their own creations lead to their destruction. While later records reveal that their disappearance was actually caused by a form of divine intervention, as a consequence of their own avarice for conquest, the destructive power of the Gizoid was also found true, nearly destroying their original civilization before they vanished. The same Gizoid, dubbed Emerl, the original Gizoid, nearly destroyed the world for the same reasons, again caused by the greed of controlling the ultimate weapon. But this story... happens after the vanishing of the Gizoid’s home civilization, a story never recorded in history, until now. The story of survivors who managed to escape the fate of their people.Scientists and roboticists of the Nocturnus Clan of echidnas, the creators of the Gizoid, were stationed just outside of their home of Nocturne, for testing weapons safely away from the rest of civilization, when it was torn from the ground and pulled into a rift that opened in the sky. They barely escaped simply by being in the right place at the right time...And they wasted no more time trying to undo what happened.Kronos’s Origin:As years passed, they tracked down something they thought could help: a source of primordial, dark, negative energy that has the ability to erase time and space, a fragment of something scattered across time, and would later coalesce and become what would come to be known as the Time Eater. ...Well, except for this specific fragment. The echidna scientists captured this source of energy, with the intent of using its power to manipulate time and bring back their lost home. Since the Gizoid, with their ability to capture power and mimic abilities, the scientists figured that such a machine is exactly what would be needed to control the time energy. So, they developed what they hoped to become the strongest Gizoids, even more so than the prototype that would come to be known as Emerl, and imbued it with the source of primordial time energy, naming it after the Lord of Time, Kronos. And this was their greatest mistake. With power over time, Kronos began to see beyond the veil of the present into the timeline itself, both the past and the countless possibilities of the future. He saw the Nocturnus Clan, the ones his creators were hoping to bring back, and more importantly, their conquering ways, the reason they were sealed in the first place. This... concerned him.So, he searched further, to the past, and to the future. He searched for conflict, and found battles, wars, those that have passed, and those that would happen. An infinite struggle between good and evil, never-ending, always perpetuating. Good prevails, but evil always comes back. A cycle of strife...And he grew to despise it.He even despised himself, a weapon created to aid in this endless destruction. And so, he sought a way to end it.But as his mind ran through the countless possibilities of time, as it continued ever forward, as one conflict would lead to another, as peace never lasted forever, one thing become ever too clear to him. There would never be an end to it all.Unless... he could stop the flow of time itself. End the very law of time itself. And with his knowledge of the flow of time, and command over it, he could do it. He just needed more power.Of course, his creators did not like this idea, but Kronos, knowing they were associated with conquerors themselves, and hoped to bring back that evil, he didn’t think they would. So, he took matters into his own hands, and cut them all down.Kronos’s First Conquest:And so, Kronos’s campaign to end time began. He spoke of the Cycle of Strife, and his goal to bring it to an end. He began to carve his way through enemy after enemy, searching for an appropriate power to achieve his goals. He knew his conquest was hypocritical to his hatred of the Cycle, but he also know that he would be opposed to his goals, that both the forces of good and evil would be against him. Kronos himself was trapped in the Cycle, so he had to play by its rules if he wanted to end it.Eventually, he began to see himself as more than a machine. He was enlightened with the knowledge and truth of reality, and in his view, had ascended beyond the lifeforms below him. He began to see himself as a god, the very deity he was named after. He gathered followers who were like-minded in his goals, and spread his word, attracting both allies, and more so enemies. And soon... he found the power he needed. Stones holding time energy, which were hidden away on a mysterious planet that appears in the skies, far away, every so often. A place that would in the future come to be known as the Little Planet. And so, his conquest continued there. But with everything he could see across time, he could not see the little details, the things he missed. Like one scientist who survived his first massacre. This scientist, after barely surviving the wrath of his own creation, finally saw the error in his ways, and knew that he and his fallen comrades had created something terrible. So, he began to plan against Kronos, finding warriors who could face him, but more importantly, developing the means to stop him.You see, even if Kronos’s creators were short-sighted in what he would become, they were not short-sighted in the dangers of the Gizoid, the past of Gizoids who went out of control and nearly destroyed their home. So, they added a failsafe into Kronos. Now, they just needed to activate this failsafe. So, as Kronos and his followers marched towards where the Little Planet would appear, the survivor and his gathered heroes approached them in opposition. And the battle was hard, and many of both sides fell, but outside of Kronos’s range...The failsafe was engaged, and all of Kronos’s abilities, both those granted to him by his fragment of primordial energy and the combat prowess he Captured during his conquest, were shut down. Even if Kronos Captured new abilities, he would not be able to use them. Nor could he use his power to end the law of time. With no ability to fight back, Kronos’s foes overpowered him, and shut him down. However, the time energy inside him made it impossible to destroy him, at least with the weaponry of the current time, and the last scientist was not eager to create another weapon that would be capable to destroy him, as it could be used elsewhere, and cause another disaster. So instead, they sealed him away, forcing him into a hopefully eternal sleep. Unfortunately, it would not last...The Return:It took Kronos thousands of years, trapped in sleep mode, but he was finally able to undo the forced sleep mode. The next step was to permanently remove the failsafe, and regain access to his powers. It would be a slow process, but while he waited, he could begin his rise to power.Without his power, he would have to play it safe, start small, and act from the shadows. But he could begin to gather followers, and purge anyone, anywhere, and anything that could be a danger. He didn’t mind if the world knew he had returned, only that they didn’t get in his way. But the Cycle never ended, and he knew that inevitably, someone would rise to face him.And so they did. Records of his sightings, when he was present for his small victories, had recognized him as a Gizoid, an ancient one. And to answer his rise to power, they had begun to create their own Gizoids. He couldn’t help but be amused at the irony (but not laughing, he doesn’t laugh). As years passed, and he slowly regained his power, he heard more about these Gizoids. And as he expected, they were seeming to become a real threat. Many of these Gizoids were beginning to be well known for their skills and power, and his followers informed him that the legendary Chaos Emeralds were being gathered.Kronos was especially getting interested in the Gizoid known as the Prismatic Sword. They say that he learned to traverse dimensions, and spared with gods to gain his power. Some didn’t believe it, but Kronos did. A god-like Gizoid, just like himself. Kronos hated conflict, but he had to admit, he was excited about this potential encounter.Even still, he had to counter this growing threat. And he was trapped in the Cycle, then he’d play by its rules. It was time to plant a seed.Kronos and [REDACTED]:Through his followers, he found a potential target. And he made the riskiest move he had made in his new campaign. He met with one of the Gizoids made to destroy him. He had yet to regain his full power. He had hoped to meet this Gizoid in a parley, non-confrontational, without his allies finding out, but it could not play out as he hoped. But he had to tell him of the truth, and hope that he understood.Kronos approached a yet untitled Gizoid, given the codename “[REDACTED]”, while he was alone, and far from his allies. Kronos asked for a temporary truce, to give him a chance to explain himself, and why he was fighting. And [REDACTED] was willing to listen.Kronos told him of the Cycle of Strife, and the endless battle of good and evil, and asked if [REDACTED] was okay with being nothing more than a tool to perpetuate it.[REDACTED] was not initially responsive to Kronos’s explanation, but he did share a concern. About how some Gizoids were discarded simply for being dangerous, and for not showing enough care for their creators and humanity.Kronos then simply told him to let his creators believe he was a loyal soldier, and wait for when the time was right. Until then, consider what he said, and ask his fellow Gizoids how they felt in regard to being discarded. Then he made his leave, the seed planted. The Final Battle:The time had come, and Kronos was ready to once again make his way to the Little Planet. He had finally regained his power, done away with the pesky failsafe, and he and his followers were ready to search for the Time Stones. Victory was on the horizon. But he knew this move wouldn’t go unnoticed. The final battle was coming, and his enemies this time around were much stronger, and far more prepared. So why pretend they could escape this fate? Why not set up the coming encounter on his terms? So, he hijacked the world’s broadcasting, and announced his goal to end the Cycle of Strife, and if anyone wanted the chance to stop him, and prove him right, that they, too, were merely a tool in the Cycle, then they can find him on Little Planet, seeking the power he needed to end the law of time. And so, as his followers began to search for the Time Stones, Kronos waited. Waited for the destined battle. And they came to him. The so-called Elite Gizoids, including the Prismatic Sword, Chome, the encounter Kronos had waited for so long. As well as the still-untitled [REDACTED], having made his way through the ranks, ...likely to Kronos’s “advice”.And the battle began. Kronos had to admit, Chrome was just as powerful as the rumors said, and a strong match against the ancient Gizoid. But with the other six Gizoids aiding him, Kronos also had to admit, he was not likely to survive this fight. But then the seed he planted finally bloomed into a grown flower, as [REDACTED] saved him, and announced his alliance with the Time Conquerer. He asked his fellow Gizoids to understand, and join him. There was some pushback, but two more Gizoids joined his side as well, [REDACTED] and Reverie, renouncing their creators, to no longer be a part of the Cycle. And so the tide of battle shifted as the alliances were split in half. The favor of battle had become theirs, and Kronos now had Chrome to himself. As for [REDACTED], Kronos gifted him with the title of Dread Zealot, and transferred some of his power to his loyal follower, to grant him the destruction he so desired. The wishes of his followers could be served, so long as the followers willingly remained steadfast to the ending of the Cycle. But Chrome, he instead made a desperate play. He used his power to rob the energies of the Chaos Emeralds, albeit temporarily, from the other Elite Gizoids, and used them for a final clash with Kronos.Chrome couldn’t destroy Kronos, but he could seal him again. Chrome used the Emerald’s power to take command of the time energies inside Kronos, and trap him in it.Sealed again, this time by his own power. And he found that he could not break it. But he had his followers, including [REDACTED], Reverie, and his new right hand, the Dread Zealot, [REDACTED]. They would free him, and they get the power he needs to end the Cycle. And in the end, they still won, even if Kronos personally. All he had to do now, was wait.
