Description
As Xeriah made her way toward Xan and her brother and sister, Binamu leaped up to the Overhang- a dark look of hate plastered on his face. As the pride watched Xeriah, Binamu let out a roar, calling everyone's attention to himself. Xeriah stopped and looked at him."My pride, there is a traitor among us!" he began, the pride's gaze fell to Xeriah. "Xeriah, daughter of a Northern lioness. She was the last seen with our alpha. Claiming a Northern lioness killed him, but what proof is there? She is part Northern! Perhaps it was her?" he glared at her.
Xeriah's ears flattened with shame and anger, how could her cousin believe she killed her own grandfather? She looked up to him. She was closer with him than anyone else in the pride. It was true that her mother gave her shared Northern blood, but that didn't make a killer. "No! That's not what-"
Binamu roared once more, "You stand accused of murder, treason, and a false claim!" he gazed out over the pride. "What does everyone think?" he asked.
Murmurs of thought and glances of angry eyes were cast toward the young lioness before a voice broke through crowd, "She did it. All the evidence says so!" it was Roho- a young red lion. He had always thought of Xeriah as lesser, he also liked her, but her rejection had forced his paw into wishing her tragedy- believing it would drive her closer to him. "She tells us a Northern lioness was in our territory. If so, she would still be here."
Muttu stepped forward, "Bloody paw prints were seen heading into the Northern lands."
"She made them to provide a backbone, you dumb flea-brain!" Roho growled.
"What did you say?" Muttu growled.
"Enough! I've heard all I needed to hear." Binamu called out. "Xeriah, you are charged with the murder of our alpha- Kumal. I hereby sentence you into exile."
"But you're not-"
"If you are caught in these lands after the sun goes down, you will be killed on sight." he growled. "Now, get out."
Roars of approval stirred and shook the land, Roho watched Xeriah as she backed toward a path that lead into open plains, grinning and joining in on the judgement.
Xeriah scented Xan a little ways off, out of the clearing, rushing in the direction of his scent as she left the pride behind her. Binamu watched her go.
"Xan!" she called out when she reached the stream that bordered the Northern lands, she panted and gasped for air after running so long. "Xan! Sciath! Dwala?..." she felt her heart pull apart and she got light headed, a pale lion appeared above her, he looked down frowned.
"You..." she muttered, "you didn't stay with him..." her eyes widened. "You're the reason I was exiled! You could've helped me!"
"All i can do is watch. I cannot get involved with ... pride matters...." he said, gingerly stepping down from his perch to meet her at eye level.
"You.." Xeriah bit back her words.
The lion waved his tail as her, "Come along. I can lead you out of here before the sun dies." he said. "After that, though, you're on your own."
"What!"
"I am sorry, this is a journey i can't make for you. You must carve your own path in this world." he padded toward a darker area of grass and twigs.
"You have to be kidding me." Xeriah mumbled, her ears flattened as she slowly followed the lion.
