Description
Was inspired a bit by Spock's suit from Star Trek Into Darkness, except this is a bit more organic, less angular and geometric. In the earlier few minutes where I was laying down the forms I couldn't quite get a good feel for the harder edge geometric shapes, so instead of fighting it I fell back to something more familiar (organics, roundness) and used that as a platform to build up from with the overall feel of the image in mind as I progressed.

It was a little easier to lay in the feeling of heat later since I did a quick layer to render out some of the general light source direction, it gives a little more surface for the blending modes to grab onto The face wasn't fully thought out, originally I was just gonna have a green or blue tint to the visor, but accidentally setting the layer to color dodge gave me an idea to paint in a quick gesture of a face being lit from below, both by the lava as well as the console panels within the helmet.

Pretty meat and potatoes though, nothing too out of the ordinary or experimental, just a person in an insulated suit going for a walk in some lava.
