Description
Had a different idea earlier but it wasn't gelling with me so I scrapped it and started over. I had this image in my head of some tall, lanky figure with a wide-brimmed hat, the face was shrouded in darkness even with the light,but you'd see these wide-set, glowing green eyes. I wanted to change up the light source from the lantern a bit, instead of a regular flame that might be warm and inviting, maybe make it something chilly and cold, a. little more spiritual and ephemeral.

Most of the forms for the piece were done quickly, a majority of the silhouette is just that, a silhouette, maybe some slightly lighter grays here and there but for the most part it's a dark figure. I bumped up the background a bit, figured I could show the 'night' aspect by adding in some stars and the figure could still have the strongest contrasts by using a layer set to screen and having that bump everything up a bit; my thinking/hope was that the blending mode would pull the lighter background a little harder than the black figure.

I do kind of wish I had some warmer colors in there, but I think it does okay as a mostly monochromatic work. I do like the eyes hehe.
