30min. spitpaint, Photoshop CC2017. August/September have traditionally been cooling off months for me from a busy summer but this time around it's been the opposite, they've just been crazy busy. Not necessarily for art but I've just had a lot of stuff on my plate and been slowly churning through it all. Anyway
When I read the prompt I immediately thought of this image, not sure if that says anything about me and my usual sunny disposition haha but yeah, wanted to have like some kind of demon knight skewering a bunch of dudes on its lance with a hell-ish background of sorts. 30 minutes, lots of shortcuts and easy steps pasted over a bad skeleton of a drawing... ah well, time to get back into the saddle of things.

it's like a visual representation of bad food poisoning hehe

30min., little bit less. The base form is pretty sloppy, it's covered by a layer of more sloppy markmaking, but when you add them together it looks 'better' in a sense. Over that I do a couple more top layers set to Normal mode and paint in little bits of detail to highlight whatever forms/shapes pop up from the underlying form; that's the red highlights on the cloak, head, hand, etc.. The background is literally seconds, a few big strokes of a super large brush then going back in with a super large eraser hehe, then using gaussian blur to fake some depth of field. I duplicated the background shapes and shrank them down, reduced their opacity to play against the background color. Basically a lot of fun shortcuts that hodgepodge together to make something fun lol
