I think a slightly tighter crop would work well for the piece but I guess it's okay as is. There's a few layers set to overlay that are inversions of one another, it creates this saturation of darks with different degrees of tone getting different hints of color; it kind of mutes some of the saturation to an extent, so whatever hue is more dominant (depending on where it is in the layer stack) will affect the layers above and below differently. It's weird and I don't pretend to understand the science or math behind it, a lot of my experimentations are more limbic brain, just going by feel.

I'm not fully happy with this thing's head, I think it needs to be either more human or a lot less so, like a nicely structured face or a blob of sorts with tendrils. It feels a little too much like it's in between two different design ideas. The 'triangular' shape needs to be a little more defined, I think on its right (our left) side near the bottom I could have cut that edge more straight, maybe hit an outline around the portal to help emphasize it more. As usual "I'll fix it in post!" heh.
