Description An illustration I did for FFG a long time ago for their Android:Netrunner LCG. This recently was spoiled as part of the Humanity's Shadow data pack, so I can post it online.

I have to admit that when I was initially instructed to draw a 'black' kraken that is 'made up of light', I sat there scratching my head for a while.

Corel Painter 9, Wacom Intuos 3, about two days of staring at various sea creatures.

I guess they really don't understand that when you make something 'black' It cannot be made of light.. some people just can't convey what they mean 90% of the time. But as Always, I love your shiz. ;3 *watches images until gets sucked into krakencenter* eeeeep!

Well, I don't think it's the case of them not understanding how light works. Just a design trait of all the illustrations that take place in cybespace is that the objects in them should look like they're made up of light (as opposed to something physically tangible). Despite that, sometimes you want dark looking things as well, just for aesthetic purposes. And sometimes it just so happens that something ends up being 'black' and 'composed of light' at the same time. (In this case it ended up as 'black but with some menacing glowy bits'. )

It makes sense if you know what it is for though...

I had to stop and think about that for a while. Clients ask for the most confusing things!
