Description
A bit less benevolent than the usual protective deity, I wanted to portray an adventurer in search of the Lamassu, fully well and knowing that it certainly wasn't looking to help anyone at all and would prefer to be left alone. Β Alas, our hero pressed on and finally decided to light a torch to see what that noise was that faintly echoed up behind her.Oops.

"Hello, do you have a moment to talk about the Church of Lamassu?" (haha)

heheh very nice also the description, just a boring note, the stonewall has piece so great that actually give the opposite sensation..I mean, seems that the knight is very tiny and the rest to normal size, a stonewall with tiny piece should give a more spectacular scale factor..eheh this is my point of view of ocurse, anyway beautiful as usual and good light study

Thanks man Yeah I kept thinking about how ancient temples and ruins are built with humans in mind, but what if you had a location that was built with much larger creatures in mind? Humans would look tiny in comparison because they'd be considerably smaller in scale compared to the usual environment, which is why I made the brickwork that much larger than normal haha. Β It does make her look like a tiny person out of context, though.

Haha but I know what you mean, it needs more human-scale things so the viewer can understand the contrast more readily, without that frame of reference she does seem tiny lol

yep, that's the point but as said before, don't worry, it's just a detail..the illustration works good also in this way

O-oh, god. That would be even more scary than the dark god you drew. To come upon this, quickly turn around and have the light come upon its face.... O.OΒ
I really wish I could do animation, or had a program for it. I would love to draw the viewpoint of the adventurer, and to add the sounds and everything... oh boy

I think it'd be a real fun little 3D adventure, even it were an ultrashort Unity-based Gamejam kinda thing where your goal is to get enough positive attention from the Lamassu by walking around and bumping into things; conversely if you actively destroy stuff you raise its hate meter and you'll meet your demise lol.

I've been contemplating getting into Unity development later this year, maybe next, just so I can make super-quick prototyping stuff like this lol. I'm an artist, not a programmer, but I think it'd be fun

It would be awesome!
I want to try out animation. Hopefully next year during PSEO I'll be able to have a try at it. Not sure if I will, but hoping.Β

A majority of my art ventures are done in my spare time, almost on a hobby level but nearing semi-pro I guess haha. Nothing wrong with dabbling a little on your own during a weekend or two, I say give it a shot Β The great thing is there's so many awesome resources these days that you can pool from, it helps jumpstart learning an awful lot, beats going to the library and looking things up with a card index to find a book

I don't really have good sources for animation, though. I have Windows Movie Maker and Sai. It would work, but WMM never seems to save correctly for me, unless I "submit" it as a movie, but then I can make changes. It's rather aggravating.Β

Mmm yeah that can be a problem hehe. I guess there's other options, I mean like Flash or something similar? I'm not terribly familiar with specific apps to create/implement animation, although I think Photoshop has something built into it that you could use to generate animated GIFs, not the same but another option

Not sure, and I hear Flash costs a lot. I'll try to figure something out.Β

Adobe's migrated a lot of their software to a subscription based revenue model, but they do offer discounts to students I think Flash is $9.99/month? So not free, but nowhere near as bad as it used to be to buy a standalone license; IIRC it was about $500 or something like that?

It's a good option to consider, certainly, and artists are all about tools to get the job done haha Β Nothing wrong with having more at your disposal /nods
