30min. spitpaint, Photoshop CC2017... this was one of those where there's a ton of stuff I'd like to do but totally ran out of time, knew I was gonna, so I hit just the points that were most important to create both volume/form and spot details to help bring the piece to life more. A lot of my spitpaints do that, where I'll generate visual volume, just basically covering surface area, and go back in the last 5-7min. and hit specific details that I think would be fun to see. Then do some last minute (literally) color passes to help unify all the parts of the piece, usually another layer set to Overlay and dropping colors/gradients hehe.Related content

Thanks! I do credit taking some time during the day to ponder about what I'd like to draw, some of the foundational stuff, and then coming to the canvas with those presets already thought of. Helps to clear things up and lets me streamline the art-making part of it a bit.

Nothing specific, but I did some old sketches a while back, brainstorming out ideas for this Lovecraftian-esque sage... the upper part is more 'normal' but the lower limbs were tentacles and fun things... you don't see those but I had that in mind while working on him.

Honestly I do spend some part of the day thinking of the concept, so it's not purely 30min. mentally from start to finish, but it does clear up a lot of sidetracks I would take thinking of things heh. "What would this horn be for? Does he come from a cult? A leader of a cult? What kind of God or Goddess would that cult worship.... OOH what if he's the chosen avatar of the deity, is it fire based? Cinders and ash?" etc etc... usually I think of those things ahead of time so when I get to drawing it just flows and I don't get as distracted lol.
